TACK, BRA, PUSS PUSS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I slept until noon. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, I, BK, slept until noon. I mean, my head hit the pillow around two in the morning and I did not arise again until noon, not even once during the night. I must have really needed the sleep and I must say it felt great, even though I lost the entire morning. Have you ever misplaced the morning? I hate when that happens. I thought it might be fun to be lazy all day and just stay in. I did the latter, but it was not possible to do the former because I had to finish a second set of liner notes, and that took quite some time. Then I had to proof some packaging and that took quite some time. Then I had to eat and that took quite some time. Then I took a break and sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I watched the third Maria Wern movie and it was the best of the first three – really good yarn, well told, with superb performances from all. And now, not only do I eat Swedish fish, but I can say thanks in Swedish – tack. And I can say good in Swedish – bra. And best of all I can now say kiss kiss in Swedish – puss puss. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a trip to Sweden so I can speak to everyone and say, “Tack, bra, puss puss.” Isn’t it amazing what you can learn just by watching Swedish crime dramas?

Then I began yet another set of liner notes, proofed more packaging, finessed the liner notes from the morning, proofed that packaging, took a thirty-minute swim, and then once again sat on my couch like so much fish.

Then I watched the third Beck TV movie and it, too, was very bra, and made me want to puss puss everyone concerned and say tack. As I mentioned, the leading man playing Beck, Peter Haber, was Martin Vanger in the Swedish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movie and, interestingly, playing a small part in the Beck films is a young Michael Nyqvist, who was the lead in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. But so many of the co-stars of these shows just seem to go from show to show – it’s like watching crime dramas from the 1970s, when you’d know all the actors and they’d just go from Ironside to Mannix to Barnaby Jones to The Mod Squad and all those shows.

After that, I listened to another potential Kritzerland project, did more work on the computer, and wondered where the relaxing part was. I then listened to all the Follies mixes again, one after another, and they really are good, I must say. I made some notes about what I want to finesse, but they’re all basically fine with just a few tweaks, so as long as he finishes Lucy and Jessie and Live, Laugh, Love/Finale, before I get there, we should be able to get it all done.

I think I shall write a song entitled Tack, Bra, Puss Puss.

Tack, bra, puss puss
All the livelong day
Tack, bra, puss puss
Life is lovely, life is gay

Yes, that will be a fine and catchy song, won’t it? I don’t have any Swedish fish here, otherwise I’d eat some. Maybe I have some Armenian fish, but it’s not the same, is it?

I have been eating fruit bars with some regularity, mostly lemonade flavor. Having one of them is excellent but you can’t just have one. The problem is that when you have two it makes you want to become a serial killer. It’s a slight problem and I think there may be a class action lawsuit here.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I think it would be lovelier than lovely to get another good night’s beauty sleep, although there is no way I can sleep past nine this morning.

Today, I have to finish the third set of liner notes I began yesterday – hopefully that won’t take to long. Then I have to whittle down the song list for the next Kritzerland show (I’ve got three songs to many), assign them, make CDRs and get the sheet music. Hopefully I’ll pick up some packages, I’ll eat something light but amusing, and then I go to my engineer’s house to finesse mixes and hopefully finish with Follies, which will then go immediately to the mastering engineer for mastering.

Tomorrow and the rest of the week is all meetings, meals, writing liner notes, shipping CDs, pulling some charts from storage, seeing a Sondheim event, and lots o’ other stuff.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finish liner notes, finalize the song list, assign the songs, get the sheet music (all done online these days), hopefully pick up some packages, eat, and then finesse mixes. Today’s topic of discussion: What other languages do you speak, which would you like to speak, and which can you just get by with? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, saying tack, bra, puss puss to all you dear readers.
