INVERTED TOENAILS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s late, so I’d better write these here notes in a hurry because I am as tired as tired can be, which is pretty tired in my book (Chapter Three – Pretty Tired is Pretty Tired). But may I just say that this week is flying by, like a gazelle with an inverted toenail. Does anyone still have inverted toenails or is that a thing of the past. Have inverted toenails been obliterated by science and progress, not necessarily in that order? And then there are introverted toenails and extroverted toenails. Mine, for example, are extroverted. My toenails consistently announce to anyone who’ll listen that they are great toenails. What the HELL am I talking about? Toenails, inverted or otherwise is hardly a suitable topic for discussion on an erudite website such as haineshisway.com. Well, actually, we’re not all that erudite and the thought of being too erudite makes me want to vomit on the ground. Now we’ve devolved to toenails AND vomit.

Yesterday was a fascinating day, although I can no longer remember why. I got up early, had an hour-long telephonic conference call with the marketing folks at Broadway World, and we discussed any number of possibilities in terms of promotion and advertising for the series. At some point, they’ll present me with a plan and we’ll go from there. After that, I answered a plethora of e-mails, made sure I had no inverted toenails (I didn’t), and then I went and had – wait for it – a Cobb salad. Whilst there I saw cousin Alan and we had a nice, brief chat. His ever-lovin’ Dee Dee’s mom, one of the nicest people on the planet, broke her ankle and is laid up in a cast, so let’s all send her most excellent vibes and xylophones for a speedy, safe recovery. After lunch, I came back home and did some work on the computer. Then I went to the mail place and picked up some mail and one package. Then I did some errands and whatnot, then came back home.

I then wrote the set-up scene for the final episode of season two – the rest of the episode was already written, but I hadn’t written the set-up for Adrian Zmed – it came out well, I think, and I’ll send it to him today. I then did some casting for the second to last episode. Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a marvelous motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Thief of Bagdad, starring Sabu. I love this movie so much. It’s beautifully written, funny, filled with adventure and colorful characters, one of the all-time great screen villains, gorgeous Technicolor, beautiful settings, and a great score by Miklos Rozsa. The Blu and Ray from Germany is a bit of a head-scratcher. It has German main titles, it has moments of great beauty and color, and other moments where the contrast is milky and washed out. I can’t find my MGM/UA DVD, which was pretty terrific and scads better than the not-so-hot Criterion DVD, but I think there will probably be a better transfer coming at some point. Still, it’s nice to have it in high definition and a lot of it looks great. I also checked out the new Blu and Ray of Patton, which I have to say is pretty spectacular. The old version doesn’t hold a candle to it, although there are plenty of people who would like to hold a candle to the old version and melt it into goo.

Then I put our new Christmas CD on CD Baby and available for digital downloads everywhere. We now have to send them the actual CD and they will prep all that, and it will all be up and running in a couple of weeks. I must say, it’s been a couple of years since I put anything on CD Baby and it’s gotten much more complicated and the process is much longer, but I got it done and that’s now out of the way.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, write liner notes, have a work session with a singer, and our musical director, eat something light but amusing, begin sending cast members their material for our next shoot, and then I’ll relax and watch a motion picture or two.

Tomorrow is, of course, Thanksgiving, and I will most assuredly be giving thanks for the blessings in my life, which include all of you dear readers. Then I’m going to a Thanksgiving dinner, and yes, Virginia, I will have a full report. Friday is a ME day and all I will do is cast and write, but most of the day I will relax. The weekend is pretty open at the moment and I hope it stays that way, because next week is really busy.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Brent Barrett tango, because today is the birthday of dear reader and Brent’s biggest fan, KavinH. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to dear reader and Brent’s biggest fan, KevinH. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO DEAR READER AND BRENT’S BIGGEST FAN, KEVINH!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up packages, have a work session, eat, write, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall happily sleep through the night knowing that I have no inverted toenails.
