November 23, 2012:

STUFFED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a lovelier than lovely Thanksgiving day and I hope all of you did, too (oot, spelled backwards). I am sitting here like so much fish, stuffed to the gills, having had two heaping platefuls of Thanksgiving treats such as turkey with gravy, stuffing with gravy, green beans with no gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, noodle kugel, cranberries and a corn muffin. It was all quite yummilicious and since I hadn’t eaten all day it was just like eating lunch and dinner at the same meal. By the end of the second plate of food I was ready to burst and to plotz, not necessarily in that order. Instead, I had some apple crisp for dessert, which put me completely into feeling like the Goodyear blimp. It was a small group – the hosts, Lloyd Cooper and his ever-lovin’ Barbara, Mr. Barry Pearl and his ever-lovin’ Cindy, their friend Kenny Morse, and li’l ol’ me. The Coopers have a lovely home in the Hills of Woodland. We were there from about four to nine, at which point I left and came home. The only downside of the day and evening was the absolutely ridiculous traffic on the freeway. It was bad enough going there, but coming home was a joke, so I got off the freeway and took surface streets and zoomed all the way.

Prior to all that, I’d slept in till ten, but stayed in bed till eleven. It had taken me a long time to fall asleep the night before, so I think I only ended up with eight hours of sleep. Once I got up, I didn’t feel like doing much of anything, so I did some organizing, because once again things are just crazily piling up everywhere and I hate piles and piles of things. I made some progress and found more things I want to get rid of. I played on the computer, I listened to some music, but mostly just relaxed. It was a very pretty day here in the City of Studio, about seventy-five degrees. I also typed the title page of what I hope will be the new novel, so now I’m already to go on January first. I’m still figuring out a few things, but I’ve got all the basics in place, about as much as I always do.

After I got home, I had a long telephonic call and that was about it. No movies, no work, just a nice all around day. That doesn’t make for very interesting notes, I’m afraid, so perhaps I’ll tell the story of The Randy Vicar and the Donut Hole. I am happy to say that the season premiere episode of Outside the Box at our new home at Broadway World is now over 7,000 views – add that to the over 1500 on You Tube and it is now our most viewed episode. The other episodes from season one all have substantial views now, which is really nice. I still feel like I’m going to explode. I’ve eaten much more food than this on other occasions, but I ONLY feel like this on Thanksgiving, and I feel like this whether I’ve had one plate or two plates filled with food. I call this The Enigma of Thanksgiving, and I think the key here is stuffing.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must really mosey on over to the room of bed where I shall hopefully get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall just have a ME day – a little writing, a little casting, a little eating, maybe a little jogging, but mostly a little relaxing. Hopefully I’ll pick up some packages and an important envelope, too.

The rest of the weekend is pretty open and I do hope it stays that way. I have been invited to a little gathering on Sunday evening, but I’m not sure if I’m going. Next week is wacky – rehearsals on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (because two of our singers can’t make the scheduled Monday and Thursday rehearsals), I’m having lunch with dear reader Jeanne, I have to finish casting a few roles, then we have our stumble-through on Saturday and sound check and show on Sunday. I think we finally have our guest star, just waiting on final confirmation, but if all goes according to Hoyle it’s Bill Hayes, the veteran star of Days of Our Lives and a charming fellow.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a ME day, write, cast, eat, and hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, Cloud Atlas and other soundtracks. Blu and Ray, Brave. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, stuffed full of wonderful foodstuffs.
