JUGGLING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this has been a week of juggling so many things I was very concerned that some of the balls would drop. Happily, none did and next week should be less juggling. I did manage to do everything I needed to do, although there were times this week when I thought I might eat the head of a chicken.

Yesterday was one crazy day. First of all, I didn’t get to bed until four-thirty in the morning. There was so much going on in Ye Olde Cranium and it wouldn’t stop. I kept thinking of things then having to write them down on Ye Olde iPad so I wouldn’t forget them. When I did fall asleep I was out until I got up, which was at nine-thirty. Five hours is usually a disaster for me, but I felt okay and got right to work, finessing, futzing and fixing the previous day’s writing. Then I began the new chapter and did two pages pretty quickly. Then I had to think about where I wanted this chapter to go, so I went and had an omelet and a bagel, and then came home and picked right up and thank goodness inspiration struck and I wrote five six more pages over the next ninety minutes or so. This chapter was a little respite from what’s been going on, and a necessary one, plot-wise.

Then I watched one episode of Downton Abbey. And I just found out that this UK Blu and Ray doesn’t have the ninety-minute Christmas episode, just the eight regular episodes. That’s nauseating, so I’ve got the US version, which does have it, on order now and it will be here a week from Tuesday, so I’ll just parse out the other episodes till then. The episode I watched was excellent and with the exception of the first episode, which was mired in exposition hell, I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen and it’s a much more consistent season than season two.

Then Sami Staitman and mom Karen came by and we all went to dinner at Zach’s Eyetalian CafĂ©. Haven’t been there in quite a while, and it was as good as ever. The two Staitman gals will be in our February Kritzerland show, and I’ve given them a great duet to do. Then they came back to the house and got to see the new episode of Outside the Box – the girls were in it but were a casualty of the first cut’s very long running time. I also showed them the first cut of the season finale, which Sarah is in and they really liked that. We still have to finesse that one, but it’s very close as it is. Then they left and I watched another episode of Downton Abbey, which also was excellent.

Then I wrote another three pages (eleven in all, or with the fixes, more like twelve) and stopped before ending the current chapter so I can pick right up there this morning and then mush on. After that, I sent all singers their sheet music. Assigning songs on this show was really hard – getting the balance right and making sure everyone had the right material. We’re STILL waiting on one performer and we’ll hopefully know by Monday but we’re also trying to find someone to have in our back pocket should that not work out. But I’m happy to have gotten all the sheet music on its way and today or tonight I’ll send some mp3s to those who need them (these singers thankfully know a lot of these songs, which is very helpful). And that was my crazy day and evening.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I really must get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, I shall be up no later than nine-thirty (alarm will be set), at which point I will finesse, futz and fix yesterday’s writing. Then I’ll move on to the new chapter and I’m praying that from here on in the plot will be in high gear and I will get everything to work the way I need it to. I do know the basics of how everything happens from here on in, but I leave it general enough to let inspiration come in any way, shape, or form. I’ll hopefully get at least three or four pages done by noon, then we have a two or three-hour work session with a singer, and then I will immediately meet dear reader KevinH for an early supper. I’ll also hopefully pick up some packages since once again there were none yesterday. When I get home from that, I shall write an additional six or seven pages to get to the end of that chapter, and I’ll send out mp3s. I also have to prep our Monday announcement for the new Kritzerland releases. Not sure I’ll have time for any Downton Abbey.

Tomorrow I think we have another work session at noon, but that’s all that’s happening so I should have plenty of writing time. And, of course, the new Outside the Box episode goes up. Monday will be mostly writing, and I may or may not have a meeting at some point or maybe a visit to the editing room. Tuesday I have the teeth cleaning with Dr. Chew and writing, and the rest of the week will be finishing the book, which will definitely happen by Friday at the latest, but might be sooner if I’m really flying along in these last few chapters. We shall see.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finesse, futz and fix, write new pages, have a work session, sup with dear reader KevinH, hopefully pick up some packages, write, send out mp3s, prep two Kritzerland releases, and I think then maybe I can actually relax for an hour. Today’s topic of discussion: Architecture. What are your favorite buildings – those unique, beautiful creations over the years? And what style homes do you love and which are your favorites of ones you’ve seen over the years? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall resume juggling.
