THE TIDE HAS TURNED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am cautiously optimistic, oh, yes, I am cautiously optimistic that the tide has turned and that I will hopefully be over The Living Crud that I’ve had since Saturday. I think that it is due in most part to your very appreciated and most excellent vibes and xylophones. When I got up at eight, (I’d fallen asleep about nine-thirty the night before, so a good night’s sleep), I felt awful – so much mucous, so much phlegm – disgusting. So, I took my medicines and went back to bed and then woke up again at eleven-thirty. I did my late-morning ablutions and got right over to Jerry’s Deli for my daily dose of chicken soup. I had almost no voice coming out of me when I tried to order my soup and sandwich. But once I’d had the soup and got some liquid in me, it kind of came back okay. And by the time I got back home and saw the vibes, well, wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles, I was feeling a bit better. I guess hocking and blowing out all that mucous has been helpful. And as the day went by I continued to feel a bit better, which I took as a very good sign.

During the day, I didn’t do much of anything, other than some work on the computer, trying to get packaging off to the folks who must approve it, listening to an upcoming project, and watching a motion picture on DVD entitled Overlord, which I watched about a year ago and needed to see again. It’s a really fine piece of work consisting of newsreel and real war footage intercut with then-newly shot scenes with actors. It’s brilliantly done and very moving in its quiet way. The score by Paul Glass is extraordinary. It’s one of those Criterion DVD things that is loaded with extras, none of which I had the patience to watch.

There were no packages to pick up, which was fine by me. I had a few telephonic conversations, ate some crackers, had some low-fat, low-cal ice cream, took a shower and that was that. I know it’s been slim pickins for the notes the last few days, but hopefully once I’m completely well I can be entertaining as all get out, and I think we know that all get out is pretty darn entertaining.

I have discovered this: I really don’t like going to bed before midnight. This going to bed at nine is for the birds, but it’s been helpful, so I’ve endured it and will endure it perhaps one more night after tonight, unless I’m really feeling better today, which I hope will be the case. I saw no one for Valentine’s Day – I received some wishes, but no little edible hearts or cards. This is what happens when Jews get older.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because it’s already AFTER nine so I must get these here notes posted, take my various and sundried medicines, and get a good night’s beauty sleep.

Today, it will be more chicken soup, more resting, hopefully picking up some packages, getting packaging on its way for approval, and having a brief meeting mid-afternoon. I also have to pick up all the Billy Barnes sheet music and then someone is going to scan it all for me. I’m sure I’ll watch a motion picture at some point, but really, just more of the boring same.

The weekend is now completely open, but I’m really hoping if I’m all better by tomorrow that I can actually eat a decent and fun meal somewhere – if not tomorrow, then Sunday for sure. The following week will be pretty busy, since I let so many things slide from this week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, pick up sheet music, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and you DVD/video player? I’ll start – CD, many Kritzerland projects. Blu and Ray – have no idea. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that the tide has turned.
