INSURANCE AND PANTS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because I have to be up early and have quite a bit to do in the morning hours. Yesterday was another wacky day. I had to deal with some insurance nonsense having to do with a Kritzerland policy – they’d upped the premium, which was running about $450 a year, to 1,400 bucks. It was a mistake on their part – someone had changed one piece of information when writing the renewal – so it’s back down where it should be. I did a three-mile jog, came home and had several long and involved telephonic conversations. Then I went and picked up a few packages, after which I went to JOS Bank, where I bought a new pair of jeans, a new pair of slacks, and a coat. They really do have the best clothes there, and there prices are amazing with frequent discounts ranging from twenty-percent to eighty-percent.

I then came home, did some work on the computer, still haven’t heard exactly when these purported five tapes will be ready for pick-up, had more telephonic conversations and then supped with young Jenna Rosen and her mom at the Daily Grill. I hadn’t eaten anything, so I had cedar plank salmon and veggies and a shrimp cocktail and one piece of bread with butter. Entire caloric intake was under 700 calories. Then we came back home and began our second Kritzerland rehearsal.

Everyone was very well prepared. One of our newbies was very nervous, so I just tried to put her at her ease – she’s really terrific but isn’t used to this kind of performing. I gave her some tiny notes to think about, but she’s got a beautiful voice and incredible poise for a young person. The songs in this show are so much fun and I just loved sitting there listening to all of the singers do their thing. I ran the number I’ll be doing, which is a song I love – Just in Time. Our musical director has the show down very well now. That lasted until ten-thirty.

After everyone left, I had some chocolate licorice and a nougat with CRANBERRIES bar, all yummilicious. I then answered e-mails, read through my commentary, made a few tiny little fixes and that’s ready to print out now, although I really don’t print it until after the stumble-through just in case I end up making an order change, a rare occurrence, though. I also had my tickets delivered for the STAGE benefit. They had me in row G center, which was about twelve rows back. But now I’m in row C but on the left side – it’s much closer but we’re kind of at the end of a row, which I’m not crazy about. I may call the lady who arranged these and see if there’s anything to be done. Still, I do like being closer so it’s probably all right. They’re $250 seats and are free so I shan’t complain.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get as much beauty sleep as possible.

Today, I’ll be up early and will shower and shave. Then a local dealer is coming by to pick up some CDs. Then I’ll do the drive to the San Fernando Mission, where the funeral is taking place. I’ll be there only for a short time as I do hate funerals of any kind. Then I have some errands and whatnot to do, I’m still hoping tapes can be picked up, then I’ll come home and do a jog, then I’ll eat, write liner notes and hopefully pick up some packages.

Tomorrow we have our stumble-through and then I’m sure some of us will go out for a bite. Then I’ll write and then see the STAGE benefit. Sunday is video and sound check (I have decided to run the Animal Farm episode of Outside the Box) and then show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a dealer come pick up CDs, attend a funeral for a short time, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up tapes, hopefully pick up packages, do a jog, eat, write, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu-ray player? I’ll start – CD, too many to mention. Blu and Ray, next up Billy Wilder’s A Foreign Affair. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland having dealt with both insurance and pants.
