THE DAY I MOSEYED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon. I don’t quite know how it happens, but she ALWAYS comes on the show weekend. I would love to just sleep late but nooooo, that will not be possible because she of the Evil Eye must do her Thing and I must not be here when she’s doing her Thing because she can’t do her Thing when I’m here.

Yesterday was a day that moseyed on by. First off, we’re havin’ a heat wave but not a tropical heat wave, no, we’re having a DRY heat wave and it is messing with my mind, my phlegm, my sinuses, and it makes my head ache. I was up at eight-thirty and jogging by nine and it was already in the high 80s outside. Then I moseyed on over to get my haircut from Teddy. After that, I came back to the San Fernando Valley and had a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon. Then I did some banking, paid a humungous number of Kritzerland bills and picked up no packages. Then we announced that pre-orders are now available for the new book – it’s at www.kritzerland.com – hardcover signed copies with a little something extra for those who pre-order. I did some work on the computer, had a couple of telephonic calls and then it was time to mosey on over to a nearby theater in a church to see Bullshot Crummond.

It’s been many years since I saw it – even with its original cast and staging, I thought it was very slight – definitely amusing, but the joke went on for two full acts and got less funny as it went. Audiences of the day ate it up because there really hadn’t been a spoof like that. The actors were funny, of course, and I’ve since gotten to know one of them quite well – Diz White. The success of Bullshot Crummond, if it’s to have success, depends on the actors, a breakneck pace, and a director with a great visual sense of humor. I felt the original production lacked the latter (the show was directed by its actors). In last night’s production, the cast was certainly game, but the director was really not up to the task, letting scene changes go on for far too long (you have to figure out a seamless way of getting from one scene to the next – you can never leave the audience just sitting there for a couple of minutes so a table and chairs can be brought out. There are easy ways to figure all that out.

Still, it was fun, and the small but appreciative audience had a good time. Our very own Mr. Doug Haverty got to have a field day playing a ton of different characters.

After, I went to Gelson’s and got some fruit and a little seafood salad from the salad bar, because I had to eat something since I’d only eaten bout six hundred calories, and I jogged off some of those. I ate some of the fruit, the small amount of seafood salad and that was that. I was happy to see that a nice number of book orders came in while I was out.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must get as much beauty sleep as possible before she of the Evil Eye arrives.

Today, I shall be up early, I’ll do a jog, I’ll probably have a small breakfast of some sort, I’ll do some errands and whatnot, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, and then we have our stumble-through, after which some of us will undoubtedly go out for a bite to eat. Tonight I’ll stay in and watch a motion picture of some sort.

Tomorrow is sound check and the show, then next week I have to write more liner notes, finish casting the next Kritzerland show (only one guy, one gal left to cast), choose the songs, gather up sheet music and get everyone their material. I also have several meetings and meals, including our first work session with Tessa Grady so she can go record chapters one through three.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, have a small breakfast of some sort, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, and do our stumble-through. Today’s topic of discussion: Who amongst our dear readers plays the stock market. I never have, but I’m fascinated by it. So, who’s played it, what have your experiences been, and if you haven’t played it, why not? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I shall mosey my way until I arise.
