THE SLUGGISHLY SLUGGISH SITE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, in case you haven’t noticed, which I know you have, our darling little website has been behaving sluggishly and our darling little discussion board was actually down for a couple of hours yesterday.  About six weeks ago our webhost did a huge move to a new data center.  Now, I wish I could explain to you what that means, but I haven’t a clew but I’m guessing that it was something they needed to do and that it will be a good thing.  But it’s been a very slow process and nothing has been working at full capacity.  Rather than take their hosted sites off-line, which would be the easiest thing for them to do for a day, they’ve been doing things slowly and they’re just about finished – in fact, I’m told that today should be the last of it.  I know it’s been a huge project and I do really like these people because they are VERY attentive and work very hard and have great customer service.  And hopefully after today we’ll be back up to full speed.  When I came home from rehearsal tonight, both the main site and the discussion board were loading but VERY slowly.  But when I went to the form I post the notes from, that wouldn’t even load, so they’re working on that problem right now so that these here notes can post on time at midnight.  I do have the form now and will write these here notes in a hurry and try to get them posted – if you’re reading them, I was successful.

Yesterday was a day, I’ll tell you that.  I was up at six to announce our new title, then fell back asleep at seven-thirty and slept until eleven-thirty, which I really needed, but then I was a bit discombobulated or, at the very least, discomgeorgeulated, because I only had thirty minutes until the Sandy Bainum rehearsal.  But I got it together and she and Lanny arrived.  I was in the midst of a really interesting telephonic conversation that could result in me being a very happy camper come next May.  Rehearsal was fine – I gave notes this time, switched up a few things and that was that.  We then went and had lunch – I had a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and a small thing of onion rings.  After that, I picked up a couple of packages, then came home.  I printed out orders, we shipped all the Heaven Can Wait CDs, and Visit to a Small Planet will ship tomorrow or the next day.  I had a lot of telephonic conversations and had lots of e-mails to deal with.  I was hoping this week would ease up a bit, but I have a ton of things to deal with concerning the benefit.

Then I was sent this little video from our Kritzerland show – the bit with little nine-year-old Hadley Miller, so I’m happy to share it with you and hope you enjoy it.  She looks great – I looked much nicer in person – go know.

Then I went to rehearsal.  We ran the two-act order and it worked very well, so we’ll proceed with that one for a while.  I have one very stressed actress so we’re trying to make things better for her December schedule, where she’ll miss several shows.  She may have to miss more than we’d originally talked about, but as long as we have a good cover for her, I’ll be okay and it will lessen her stress for the month.  Then she’ll come back full time in January and complete the run.  People are finally getting off book, and therefore things are running more smoothly, so that’s good.

Today, I have to be up early – one of these days I’ll have a damn morning to myself but today isn’t that day.  I have to be at Westlake Studio at around nine-thirty or so for the Sandy Bainum video shoot.  We’re filming three songs and hopefully we can get it all done by three in the afternoon, after which I’ll go have a leisurely meal and then go to rehearsal.

The rest of the week is meetings and meals and Sandy rehearsals and show rehearsals and we should begin tech on Saturday, which will continue on Sunday.  Then Monday we’re off, and Tuesday and Wednesday will be dress rehearsals and then we should begin previews.  I think maybe you should all start sending excellent vibes and xylophones for our little show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a video shoot, eat, rehearse and I think that’s about it.  Today’s topic of discussion: You’re on your own – surely you can come up with a fun topic so DO it.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I will hopefully arise to a non-sluggish haineshisway.com.
