THE PHOTOGRAPHIC NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’ve gone and done it again, I lost track of time or time lost track of me and it’s now obvious these here notes are going up very late.  So, here we go, without further ado (oda, spelled backwards), the notes.

First of all I do believe I have some actual photographs to share with you from the One Starry Night benefit.  I’m hoping to have more onstage photos from the actual show, but these will have to tide you over until those materialize, which I assume they will.  Here’s a shot of the show’s co-producers, Jonathan White and Juliana Hansen along with the show’s writer/director.

Next, in the green room we have jovial Bruce Vilanch, one of my favorite people.

Here we have our Fugue for Tinhorn gals, Marsha Kramer, Lisa Livesay and Susanne Blakeslee.

Here is a fun group of people – from left to right: Donna Barnett, who is Terri White’s ever-lovin’ spouse; Marsha Kramer; John Sloman; Susanne Blakeslee; Terri White and the show’s writer/director.

Here is the show’s writer/director with the adorable Hadley Miller, who in true BK style, threw up right before the show, but trouper that she is, went on a moment later and took part in the number that got one of the biggest ovations of the evening.

Here are three Bs – the show’s writer/director, Brennley Brown and in front Brooke Besikov.

And now from the show itself, first we have Micky Dolenz doing his number at sound check.

Next we have the beautiful Richard M. Sherman, completely surprised by being the first winner of the annual One Starry Night award, which was presented to him by Roy P. Disney.

Finally, we have Barry Pearl and Bruce Vilanch doing Timeless to Me, another number that stopped the show cold.

Yesterday was a pretty nice day, all in all.  It began with me arising at around nine-thirty after eight hours of sleep.  I knew right away I felt almost no queasiness, and that made me very happy indeed.  I then read through the minimal stuff I’d futzed and finessed since Sunday, which wasn’t much and the maybe three new pages I’d written.  I wasn’t fond of that much of it, so I futzed and finessed what I’d futzed and finessed, adding to it, fixing the prose, smoothing it out and then I was much happier with all of that.  I wasn’t thrilled with the new pages either, and I redid those and got them where I wanted them.  I’m thinking that my food poisoning incident coupled with the crazy schedule just didn’t put me in the best writing place for those two days.  Then I took a shower, got two really good ideas, then wrote three new pages right away.  Then I knew I had to get some food in me after sixty hours of no eating, so I went and had two poached eggs on white toast with a little side of white rice, all of which went down easily and it felt really good to get some food down.

After that, I picked up one package, then came home.  I wrote another two pages, then took a break and watched the first thirty minutes of the very odd Stanley Kramer film, The Domino Principle, which I’ve never seen before. Then I finished choosing the songs for the next Kritzerland show, got all the sheet music, and have sent some of the singers their music.  After that it was right back to the computer for more writing.  I wrote another three pages and finished chapter seven, which has a nice dramatic ending, then I began chapter eight.  So, with the revised three pages, all the additions, and the completely new pages, I think I did somewhere around eleven.  By that time it was late, and that is when I lost track of time, mostly gathering the photographs for these here notes.

Today will be mostly a writing day filled with writing.  The first thing I’ll do is print out the latest pages – the first batch was forty-five pages and that’s exactly what the second batch is, unless I write a couple of new pages before printing out.  Then I’ll deliver those to Muse Margaret, after which I’ll get a bite to eat and hopefully pick up some packages.  Then I’ll try to write at least six to eight pages and hopefully Muse Margaret will call with the latest report.  The rehearsal that was planned for today has been moved to Friday due to illness.  I’ll try to finish the movie at some point.

Tomorrow is more writing, then I have two hours of auditions to sit through and if I’m feeling up to it, maybe staying for that evening’s performance – I really don’t want to deal with rush hour traffic.  Friday I now have the rehearsal meant for today, but that’s it, then more writing, and the weekend will be writing and hopefully finalizing the packaging for our next release.  We’ll also be shipping out CDs on Friday morning.  And I want to get the Kritzerland commentary done and out of the way.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, futz and finesse, write, print out pages and deliver to Muse Margaret, eat, hopefully pick up packages, write, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like.  So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which it’s writing and hopefully gathering some more fun photographs to post right here at haineshisway.com.
