THE WEATHER REPORT AND OTHER MATTERS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is the last day of February.  I ask you, where else on all the Internet can you find such information?  Nowhere, that’s where.  Yes, February flew by, like a gazelle doing a slow burn.  Of course, lest we forget, February is a short month.  I don’t know who decided February should be a short month, or who decided that some months should have thirty days and some thirty-one, or even who came up with the word month.  It’s all so arbitrarily arbitrary, isn’t it?  In any case, tomorrow is a brand spanking new month called March, and it is my fervent hope and prayer that March will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.

Yesterday, in the midst of the first huge storm to hit LA, the sun was shining for most of the day.  The “storm” did get to us the night before and we had us a real “huge” storm – maybe two or three hours of light rain.  But the big storm is due now, as I type these here notes.  I don’t see any rain as of this moment, but we shall see what happens.  We certainly could use some rain.  I was up earlier than intended, did some work on the computer, had some telephonic calls, answered a lot of e-mails, and then I went and had a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and no fries or onion rings.  I did some banking, then came home.  A while later, we had our second Kritzerland rehearsal.

Everyone is doing very well and the mostly have their lyrics down.  We’re doing some really fun stuff in this show.  I did make one little swap in the show order because Terri White decided to change her song and I felt it would work better one song earlier than where I had the other song.  We interrupt these here notes to say that the rain has begun.  It is trickling down.  Stay tuned for further updates.  After the rehearsal, Jenna, her mom and I went to the Studio Café to eat some food.  I had a bacon, mushroom and onion scramble and toast, and we of course shared some wings.  Then I came home.  I got the good news that we’ve finally got our musical director for Li’l Abner, so that was a big load off.  His name is Wayne Moore – I’ve known him for quite a long time, but we’ve never worked together so it should be fun.

It was already too late to watch a motion picture in any format.  I did download the hi-rez scan of the cover art, which looks amazing – it took almost an hour to download.  The color is not as vibrant in the raw scan as it was in the low-rez version I got in an e-mail, but the artist said that can easily be adjusted back to the way I liked it once Grant has it in Photoshop.  I’m hoping that will all happen today.  I’ll probably go over there at some point, at least that’s the hope.  After that, I did more work on the computer and that was about it for Thursday.  We interrupt these here notes to give you an update: The rain is still trickling.

Today, I shall be up in the morning hours and then I’ll talk to Grant and see what his schedule is like.  I have some errands and whatnot to do, I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, and then I’m seeing our show, joined by our very own Mr. Nick Redman and his ever-lovin’ Julie Kirgo.  The only thing that might change is if Grant can only work in the evening – my priority is to get the cover done so that everything can go in to the publisher this weekend.

Tomorrow, the day is mine, and I will, of course, be available should Grant need me for anything, then I’m definitely seeing our show in the evening.  Sunday is our stumble-through and it’s also the final performance of Pure Imagination at the Pacific Resident Theater.  Sami will go directly from our stumble-through to the matinee.  Sunday night, of course, we have our Annual Oscar Bash right here at haineshisway.com, the best Oscar partay in town.  Monday is our sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, hopefully get the cover finished with Grant, I must eat, I must hopefully pick up some packages, and I must see our show.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/Blu and Ray player?  I’ll start – CD, too many to name.  Blu and Ray, 55 Days at Peking, then Witness.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall arise with more weather reports.
