POMEGRANATE DREAMS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week has flown by, like a gazelle eating a pomegranate.  Does anyone still eat a pomegranate?  Pomegranates were very popular with the populace when I was a kid and I remember being intrigued by them and enjoying eating them, even though they were the weirdest fruit around.  Do they still sell such things?  I must check at Gelson’s.  Certainly I don’t think they are a very popular fruit, but then again several fruits I can think of aren’t all that popular, at least not with me, take for instance the Kiwi fruit, which I find horrifying.  In any case, we seem to be at Friday, which is astonishing since we were just at Monday.

Yesterday, we had our second Kritzerland rehearsals and it all went very well, with most of the cast having their lyrics down pat and some still having some memorization to do.  But we began with Richard Sherman, playing the song we wrote together – I’m singing it, he’s playing, and we do a sixteen-bar musical interlude in which we both play kazoos.  It is a whole lot of fun I have to say.  Even though I wrote the majority of the lyric I’m still not quite pat on it – hopefully by tomorrow I will be.  After we finished, a few of us went to Jerry’s Deli for dinner, my first meal o’ the day.  I had a cup of chili and a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, plus some tap tap tapioca pudding for dessert.

Prior to all that, I’d had nine blessed hours of beauty sleep, arising at eleven.  I had e-mails to answer, telephonic conversations to have, and then I picked up a couple of packages, after which I returned home and did some work on the computer.

Then we had our rehearsal, then dinner.  Once home, I listened to an upcoming Kritzerland project – two great scores by one great composer, and both completely new to me, so that was great fun and quite a pleasure.  After that, I did more work on the computer.  Several people posted to say they got their copies of Red Gold, but only one actually read the book from start to finish and that was dear reader Jrand.  He posted a review on amazon and it was quite wonderfully written and would certainly make me want to buy the book, which is all you can hope for from a review.  So, hoping others will follow suit and read away.

Today, I pretty much have the day to myself.  I decided to hold off on the visit to Teddy until next week, when it will be easier.  I will drive books out to Mystery and Imagination right after noon, then I’ll eat, then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, after which I’ll come home and relax.

Tomorrow is our stumble-through, then I’m supping with Muse Margaret and hubby Richard.  Then Sunday is our sound check and show, and I will, of course, have a full report for you.  Next week will be very busy – prepping a new release, writing liner notes, several meetings and meals, a production meeting, casting and choosing songs for the May Kritzerland show and getting a slew of CDs shipped out.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, deliver books, eat, hopefully pick up packages, check out the existence of the pomegranate and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player?  I’ll start – CD, many things.  Blu and Ray, in the player and ready to watch, All the King’s Men.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I’m quite certain I shall have pomegranate dreams.  Pomegranate Dreams – that’s the title of my next novel.
