MAYTIME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is May.  Can you believe it?  It seems like only yesterday it was April.  Of course, it WAS only yesterday so there’s that.  So, before I say anything else, let me just say that it is my fervent hope and prayer that May will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.

Let me also say that yesterday was a completely horrible day, starting with a somewhat sleepless night (even though I do think I got eight hours).  But the horrible part didn’t rear its little head until I arrived for the Abner rehearsal.  I’m not quite ready to say anything, other than I will ask you to please send your strongest and most excellent vibes and xylophones for a happy resolution of a potential nightmare.

In any case, yesterday’s rehearsal was cancelled, and I won’t know until I know exactly how we’re proceeding from here, which is why we need all those super strength vibes and xylophones.  So send ‘em and keep ‘em coming and I’m praying they work.

After that, I came directly home, where I was literally on the phone for something like five hours, having back-to-back conversations, some of which were illuminating, and all of which were with understanding folks.  Of course, I’ve been trying to take it easy on my voice and all those telephonic conversations just about did me in – hopefully it will be back by this morning.  Not much else to report, I’m afraid, but if I never have another day like this it will be far too soon.

I did finally get to Gelson’s, since I hadn’t eaten since noon, when I had some soup and some chicken tenders.  I got some melon balls and I got some nuts and I had a few of each – balls and nuts, not necessarily in that order.  And then I had yet another telephonic conversation.

Today, which I’m praying will be better than yesterday, is only half-known to me at the moment.  The half that I know is that my pal David Wechter is coming by in the morning to pick something up, then I’ll eat something amusing, hopefully pick up some packages, and then we have our second Kritzerland rehearsal.  Hopefully, before then I will have heard what’s going on and hopefully your most excellent vibes and xylophones will have worked their magic wonders.

Tomorrow is also unknown to me until I know the lay of the land.  Saturday is our stumble-through and Sunday is our sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, see my pal David Wechter, eat, hopefully pick up packages, hopefully get a positive telephonic call, have our second Kritzerland rehearsal, and then we shall see.  Today’s topic of discussion: What do you think about the times in which we live?  Seriously.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I will hopefully arise to a better day – and it is my fervent hope and prayer that May will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.  And please do send your strongest and most excellent vibes and xylophones.
