THE BIG HUNK, THE ABBA-ZABA AND THE LOOK

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late and I must write these here notes in a hurry because I have a late morning early lunch/late breakfast thing and, as you know, I have not been getting a whole lot of sleep the last few days.  But first let me tell you of my current little candy obsession.  Yes, I currently have a little candy obsession, three to be exact – Big Hunk, Abba-Zaba and Look.  And at Halloween time they package bite-size versions of all three in one convenient bag.  I’ve always enjoyed Big Hunk for as long as I can remember.  Abba-Zaba was a favorite but you were always in danger of them pulling out your fillings or even your teeth.  I never ate Look a lot but I did like it.  But the bite size versions are just the perfect size and I’m happy to say they’ve softened the Abba-Zaba so that there’s no danger to fillings or teeth.  How long this obsession will last is anyone’s guess.

Yesterday, I had the same sleep problem as the night before.  I fell asleep around two and woke up less than ninety minutes later and could not get back to sleep.  I finally fell asleep around six and slept until ten.  Once up, I had a telephonic conversation with the wonderful actress/singer Sarah Uriarte Berry, who’ll be the only New York performer to do these first two Kritzerland shows.  In fact, we are just about fully cast – for the Sherman Brothers show it’s Sarah Uriarte Berry, Dan Callaway, Evan Buckley Harris, Lisa Livesay, Madison Claire Parks, Hadley Miller, Jenna Lea Rosen, Sami Staitman and guest star Richard Sherman.  We may have a surprise guest, too, just waiting to hear.

For the second show, it’s all of the above except for Richard Sherman, and we add four New York ensemble people, Tim Heller, Jessica DeJong, Ian Saunders and Gianna Yanelli, along with special guest Jason Graae.  Musical director is Chris Denny.

Then I did some work on the computer and then spent two hours finishing choosing the Jerry Herman songs for the next Kritzerland show – we have an incredible cast for that show, including David Engel, Chelsea Emma Franko, Damon Kirsche, Valerie Perri, Shannon Warne and our special guest Karen Morrow.  I think I finally came up with a good mix of songs, although one of them will probably change.  Then I gathered up all the sheet music save for one song, so today I will get all that stuff to the performers.  Then I picked up no packages, after which I came home.  I then spent way too much time trying to figure out how to deal with a laptop problem – every time I turn it on it tells me there’s no room on the start-up drive or the hard drive.  I have virtually almost nothing on that laptop so I just didn’t get it.  I called Apple and we went through a few things and then ascertained that it’s Dropbox.  I really don’t understand it, as Dropbox is a website thing, but when you have it in your menu bar it actually puts everything in your Dropbox onto your hard drive.  That makes no sense to me on any level, and believe me, all the Kritzerland projects are there and that’s a huge amount of stuff.  Apple gave me the number of Dropbox so I could figure out how to deal with it.  However, Dropbox has no tech support either online or by phone.  I Googled and found some solutions but couldn’t figure out how to even try them.  I finally figured out where the Dropbox folder was and I trashed it.  That didn’t help until I realized I actually had to empty the trash.  Once I did that I freed up half of the disk space on the computer.  If I ever need to get something from Dropbox on that computer, I’ll simply go directly to the site and download exactly what I need.

Then it was time for dinner.  A friend and I went to the Eclectic Café.  I had penne Bolognese, which was really fantastic, a small Caesar and we shared some mac-and-cheese, although I literally only had three bites.  It was a fun meal.   Then we decided to watch a motion picture on Blu and Ray, and since my friend had never seen Witness for the Prosecution, we chose that.  I’ve written about it way too many times, but it’s a film I absolutely love and it’s always great to see it.  The transfer is old but acceptable.

Today, I have an late morning early lunch late breakfast thing, then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, then I’ll get singers their music and spend the rest of the day working on the two New York shows – while they’re both stuff we’ve done here, I had to switch up a few things due to performer changes, so now I have to slightly change show orders for both shows.

Tomorrow I have a lunch with Kay Cole and then I’m not quite sure what the weekend has in store.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a late morning early lunch late breakfast thing, hopefully pick up packages, get singers music and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your current candy and/or dessert obsessions?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland after having just eaten a Big Hunk, Abba-Zaba and Look.
