PETRIFIED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, am I really coming to New York, New York in one short week?  I do believe I am and it’s a little petrifying to me, frankly.  Hopefully we’ll actually get some reservations this week – that would at least give me some comfort.  It’s all very scary – not knowing the room at all and having only an hour in there before we do our first show – knowing a rehearsal time has not been set up yet so the New York folks can work before I get there (I’m sure it will be because no one wants to walk into next Friday’s rehearsal on book or insecure about their songs), and trying to, in one long rehearsal, hear everyone, work with them, and then do two stumble-throughs in a row.  Next Friday is going to be some long day.

Yesterday was an interesting day.  I don’t really remember why, but I do remember thinking it was an interesting day.  I did get nine hours of sleep so that was good.  I did a radio show interview for And the World Goes Round with the musical director and the hosts of the show, Michael Sterling and Paul Strolli.  It was fun.

After that, I picked up one teeny-tiny package, then came home.  I had to answer e-mails and do some work on the computer and have a telephonic conversation.  And then it was time to mosey on over the hill to meet up with Barry Pearl.  We met at the theater we’d be seeing a show in later, and drove together to The Grove, where we met my Li’l Abner stage manager for dinner.  We ate at The Cheesecake Factory.  I haven’t been there in ages, so I had my favorite dish, the spicy cashew chicken, which was, as always, great.  Then we went and saw an early performance of a new play called Painting in Red.  It was an odd play and really not my cup of tea, coffee or cocoa.  It was in one act and ran about eighty minutes.  The actors were all fine, there was some completely random rear male nudity, and then it was over.

I came right home, answered more e-mails, did a few more things on the computer and had one telephonic conversation and then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture documentary on Netflix entitled Bound by Flesh, about the Hilton Sisters, Daisy and Violet.  It was a little long and repetitious at ninety minutes and it was mostly comprised of talking heads and some archival footage, some of which was used over and over again.  But, theirs was an interesting story so I stayed with it, learned some things I didn’t know, and in the end was happy I watched it.

After that, I just relaxed and did more stuff on the computer, until it was time to write these here notes.

Today, I just have some errands and whatnot to do, I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll do some banking, and then I’ll just relax and see what’s happening.

Tomorrow night I may or may not be seeing a play, and I’m not at all certain what’s happening on Sunday.  Next week, of course, is crazy with trying to get everything ready and organized for the trip, and I’ll try to see Teddy to get coifed before I go.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do errands and whatnot, eat, hopefully pick up packages, bank, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player?  I’ll start – CD, who knows?  Blu-ray, not sure.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I shall tried to be less petrified.
