BUT FIRST, A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it’s late, I’m tired, so I must write these here notes in a hurry because I do need a semblance of a good night’s beauty sleep.  But first a word from our sponsor: Do you suffer from the heartbreak of psoriasis?  If so, try Tegrin, the new fast-acting formula that works three ways to relieve these symptoms of psoriasis.  We now return you to the notes.

Yesterday was somewhat fun.  I was up early and at rehearsal at ten, the last of this week’s music reheasals.  It seemed to go well.  I met with our costume designer and our lighting designer.  The costume designer did Li’l Abner – the lighting designer is new to me and I liked him very much and think he’ll do a great job.  We also got the main part of our set – six office chairs on wheels.   I was there from ten to about two-thirty.  Then I picked up a package, came home briefly, put the new book on a flash drive then took that to Staples to get three spiral-bound copies made.  While that was happening I went and had a cup of soup and a Cobb salad with ranch dressing rather than my usual 1000-Island dressing.  Then I came home, did some work on the computer, then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson, directed by Luc Besson.   From the very start, Mr. Besson has made some incredibly quirky and wacky films, some of which work better than others, but almost all of which are interesting to watch.  I’m rather fond of Leon: The Professional and several others.  If you go to the imdb you will see a lot of young idiots trashing this film and I do mean trashing it.  They trash it for its science, because they find some of Lucy’s actions repugnant, and for it not being believable.  Say what?  These are the same idiots who love every superhero movie, every unbelievable action picture and science fiction picture, but THIS science FICTION picture they find unbelievable?  Really?  Well, it’s as wacky as all his other films and I found it very entertaining and Miss Johansson is simply terrific in it.  Does it make sense?  No.  Does The Matrix make sense?  No.  Does The Transformers make sense?  No.  Is it fun and well done?  Yes.  And Mr. Besson has a great sense of pace and the film does not overstay its welcome by even a second – without the end credits it runs all of eighty-two minutes.  It looks great, sounds great and sorry young idiots, I liked it.

Then I went back to Staples and picked up my three spiral-bound copies of the book.  Muse Margaret’s hubby Richard came by to bring me some stuff for the appendix of the book – oh, okay, we’re doing Adriana’s mother’s recipes – really fun.  You’ll know why when you read the book.  I gave Richard a huge piece of the Parisian cake to take home so they could have it for dessert.  Now the question is will I include the recipe for Wacky Noodles?

After all that, I began writing the commentary for the Kritzerland show and got a third of the way through.

Today, it’s up early again and from ten to two I begin staging the show.  For the first time ever I will actually stage from the beginning of the show to the end.  I think that will be fun.  It’s because all six women are always onstage, so why not?  It’s always daunting for me to dive in with an opening number, but I have an idea of how I want it to start and hopefully it will flow from there.  After rehearsal I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, then I’ll eat a little something, then come home and hopefully finish the commentary.  I’ve decided to hold the Kritzerland release until Monday.

Tomorrow it’s more staging for four hours, then I may be having a meeting and a meal or that will happen on Saturday.  Saturday I’ll have a meeting and a meal if that hasn’t happened on Friday.  Sunday is mine all mine and my last chance to relax for quite a while.  All next week is not only staging rehearsals but the Kritzerland rehearsals as well.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, rehearse, hopefully pick up packages, eat, write and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What were your favorite commercials when you were growing up?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst we have another word from our sponsor.
