MONUMENTAL MIRACLE MAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is May.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is May.  And it is my fervent hope and prayer that May will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.  We’re hoping May will be a Monumental Month, a Miracle Month because we surely need some miracles around these here parts.  So, first things first on this first of May, Monumental Miracle Month.  As I mentioned in yesterday’s notes, today is the tenth anniversary of Kritzerland.  It’s been a crazy ride and a very enjoyable one, but it’s time for Kritzerland to grow and we need your help to do that.  We’ve begun an Indiegogo campaign to raise a good deal of money so that we can begin new relationships with new studios and licensors.  Basically, you just have to step up to the plate and wave a big check and lock up a lot of projects.  Kritzerland was, of course, started on a wing and a prayer because after the debacle of the label that is pointless to name, I did not intend to ever have business partners again.

In our ten years, we’ve managed to release well over 150 CD soundtracks, many of them world premiere releases.  We’ve also done a lot of cast album reissues, including our widely praised remixes of Follies, Promises, Promises and Sugar.  We’ve done a few new cast albums, a few singer albums, and people seem to like what we do.  We’re committed to the Golden and Silver Age of soundtracks and with certain exceptions we kind of leave the newer stuff to other labels.  We’ve devised what we hope are fun perks that will make donating easy and painless.  For many of the perks, you’re basically purchasing our CDs in advance, at a savings and with no postage charge, along with some other fun stuff.  For those who can afford the higher perks, you can get your name in the thank yous of our CD booklets, you can be a co-producer or executive producer and for certain perks you can get every Kritzerland release.  But I won’t go on here – the campaign is live so simply click on the link below (or cut and paste it in your browser address bar) and visit the campaign – there’s a fun video there and a lot of text with everything you need to know.  We’re hoping you’ll come along with us on our ride into the future.  Two other things: Please share the link on Facebook, Twitter and with whoever you think might be interested.  And we’re told that the first day of donations on Indiegogo is absolutely crucial as it sets the tone for the campaign.  The Indiegogo experts (yes, there are Indiegogo experts) really stress the importance of getting as many people to donate the first day as possible.  So, on we go to Kritzerland a GoGo.  Here’s the link.

Yesterday was mostly spent finessing the campaign and prepping the e-mail blast and announcements.  I only got about four hours of sleep – too much stuff in Ye Olde Cranium.  Then at three we had our Kritzerland rehearsal, which was loads of fun.  We have a really wonderful cast and today we had our guest star, Terri White, who I adore and who’s singing Blue Skies.

After that, I moseyed on over to the Smoke House for our ALS postmortem dinner.  We all had a great time, talked about next year, and ate a LOT of food.  I’m afraid I overdid it on the garlic cheese bread, not to mention a nice hunk o’ prime rib and a baked potato larded with butter.  A good time was had by all.

Then I came home, we made some last minute adjustments to the Indiegogo campaign and took it live.  As soon as I post these here notes, I’ll send out the eBlast and then if everyone can just send really strong excellent vibes and xylophones for a wildly successful Indiegogo campaign, that would be great.

Today, I will hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep, but not too late as I have stuff to do in the morning.  I’m meeting the editor of the Indiegogo video, Marshall Harvey, for lunch, hopefully I’ll pick up some packages and hopefully it will be a great start to a Monumental Miracle May.

Tomorrow is our stumble-through and I’m sure some of us will have a bite after.  Then Sunday is our sound check and show.  Next week there are many things to do and do them I shall.  And the book signing has been set for May 16 at Mystery and Imagination Books.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do stuff, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player?  I’ll start – CD, who knows?  Blu and Ray, Zardoz.  Your turn.  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland hoping for a Monumental Miracle May – it is my fervent hope and prayer that May will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
