MOSTLY A DAY OFF

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we are finally organized for the Kritzerland Indiegogo campaign and are just about to order a large number of mugs and T-shirts. We are waiting on word about fifteen projects but one way or the other we do have to release something in the next week or so. We’re hoping to have at least a few of the things we’re waiting on approved and once they are we will move quickly to get stuff out. Meanwhile, the Sami Indiegogo campaign is in its last couple of days – if you’re in LA and want to see the show, it’s a great way to get discounted tickets, to pre-order the CD, to get sheet music, to be an associate producer or even an above-the-title producer, get a coaching session with me, a headshot session with Sami’s mom (she’s really good) and if you have money to burn, you can even have dinner with Sami and me at The Smoke House. So, if you feel like it check out the fun perks.

Yesterday was mostly the kind of day I needed, basically a day off. I’m still feeling kind of weird – don’t understand it really. I’ve been fighting something for a week and I’ve won so far, but it’s just lurking under the surface and I’m really quite bored of it by now. I did get about nine hours of sleep, so that was nice. I had a really exceptional breakfast burrito at Jerry’s Deli. I customized it to my liking and it was just kind of perfect. They normally do it with scrambled eggs, cheese, onions, potatoes and tomatoes – I held the potatoes and tomatoes, and ordered a side of salsa and guacamole. I will be having it again soon.

After that, I picked up a couple of packages and then came home. I chose a couple of songs and we’re almost all set now – just three to go, I think. I wrote the blurb for the flyer for the anniversary show and we’re actually going to open reservations for it today, two weeks ahead of when we normally do. Then I read the lovely review for the Kritzerland show by Rob Stevens – you can read it by clicking on the Now Playing icon on our home page. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I began watching a documentary about – yes – a serial killer from the early 1920s – it was pretty bad – I really hate when they do “recreations” with actors – but it served its purpose – I dozed off and slept for thirty minutes. Then I watched an absolutely wonderful documentary entitled Casting By, about casting director Marion Dougherty. She really changed the face of casting and she and the others in the documentary are really interesting and fun – I could have watched another hour of it, frankly. It’s on the Flix of Net should you desire to catch it. It also points out just how disgusting the movie and TV business has become, but we already knew that.

I then watched another documentary entitled Winnebago Man. I had no idea of who or what Jack Rebney was or about his Internet fame. Back in the late 80s he was in a corporate video for Winnebago and apparently someone kept the camera rolling as he’d get frustrated and swear up a storm and get angry at everyone. That video got shared with a lot of people who shared it with a lot more people and once You Tube came along in 2005, it became hugely popular along with a lot of other videos where a lot of people, especially young people, could watch and laugh at others. The filmmaker was obsessed with the video and set about to find this guy. He finally did, and that’s the documentary, but it’s one of those smarmy all about the director documentaries, much like the one about Paul Williams, and those just aren’t to my liking. The guy himself is interesting, and if the damn director would just get the HELL out of the way, it might have been good.

Then I just relaxed and did stuff on the computer.

Today, I will jog, I’ll hopefully pick up packages, finish choosing songs, get everyone their music, and then I think I’m having dinner with folks in the early evening.

The rest of the week is meetings and meals and going and doing and seeing shows and ordering mugs and T-shirts.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, hopefully pick up packages, choose songs, get folks music, and perhaps have dinner. Today’s topic of discussion: What excellent books have you been reading lately? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had mostly a day off.
