PIZZA GUILT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had the first of two longer rehearsal days and it went very well. We got a lot done, I made further adjustments to the staging, and Sami did really well and we’re starting to find the rhythm again and the pace. Having a longer day means you can really go over things and run them as much as you need to. We began at the top and worked all the way through, stopping and starting as we needed to. Once we did all that, we went back and specifically ran all the transitions into new monologues and that was helpful, too. What’s really been fun is developing a little camaraderie between the character of Molly and our pianist. I’ve added about four bits for them – I added a fifth yesterday but I’m not sold on it yet. We took a lunch break and I had four slices of Dino’s Pizza, so I was a happy me, food-wise. We finished just before five.

Prior to rehearsal, I’d fallen asleep at two and woke up at five and couldn’t fall back asleep, which was very irritating. I finally got up around seven, did my jog, and then she of the Evil Eye arrived. I did some work on the computer before I left for the theater, and then we had our long rehearsal day.

After rehearsal, I came right home. I was feeling the pizza guilt for sure. Pizza Guilt – that’s the title of my next novel. So, I did a second jog. By the time I returned it was really too late to watch a motion picture, so instead I watched the little featurettes on the Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner Blu-ray. These were done about eight years ago for a DVD release and I’m sure I watched them back then, but it was nice to see it again. Then I did some more work on the computer, saw the beginnings of what our program will be for the show, and did the final spot-checking for both CD packages, which will go off to the printer in the morning.

Today, we have our second long rehearsal day, although not as long as the first long rehearsal day. I’m not going to eat anything when we do our thirty-minute break – I’d rather have a nice dinner after rehearsal, and by gum and by golly and buy bonds I damn well will. Or is it I damn will well?

Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday are all rehearsal days, and I think our design team will see one of those rehearsals, which will be a good thing. Thursday and Friday are meetings and meals and also meals and meetings. Then we have two long rehearsal days again, and then we begin our crazy Kritzerland/Welcome to My World week, which is going to be insane but hopefully fun.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Frug, for today is the birthday of our beloved TCB.  So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our beloved TCB.  On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR BELOVED TCB!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, rehearse, eat, do a jog, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hopefully over my pizza guilt.
