October 10, 2015:

THAT KIND OF DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, Time Warner is so screwy that I’m writing these here notes early just in case they continue to be screwy. The screwy is that the Internet has literally been going on and off all night long. I called and of course their automated machine told me there were no outages and no problems and they sent a signal to my modem and told me to unplug the router and plug it in again. While it was telling me this nonsense, the Internet came back – obviously not a signal or a router problem, but I unplugged and plugged anyway. I could get to our site most of the time, but it wasn’t connecting to other sites at all, and that included Google and Facebook and the Time Warner home page. So, I went to the laptop and was able to get to Google and read that people have been complaining about this all day and evening, and specifically referencing Google and Facebook – so how can they sit there and say they’re not having a problem? In what universe do they live? So, I called and was told there would be a forty-minute wait – well, let’s put on our thinking caps and figure that out – could it be that hundreds of San Fernando Valley people are all calling to complain? My guess is yes and yes is my guess. I may have to send these to the laptop because it seems to be working better than the iMac but that may just be the luck of the draw. In any case, I’ll schedule the notes at midnight and that should get them posted for sure. I may change the topic early, too, but we’ll see how it’s going.

Then again, it was that kind of day. That kind of day began when the early morning meeting was pushed a half-hour. That went fine, and the interim helper came by to get invoices and stuff, and the normal helper was meeting her to get caught up after her three months gone. I went and had a quesadilla and a piece of multiple-berry cake, which was very light and very good. Then I realized that Damn Yankees opens NEXT week, so that was good. Then I updated the laptop to the brand new operating system called El Capitan, which was just released a week ago. It takes so damn long that I just don’t want to do it on my regular computer – it would be hours and I always seem to have it get stuck and to have to call and start again, which is difficult since it’s out of Apple Care.

Then all these Time Warner problems began happening and it was just too damn annoying. So, I made about five ounces of spaghetti, butter and cheese and ate it whilst trying to watch a French movie from France entitled Bastards. It was like watching paint dry, and the story was incomprehensible and I finally just shut the damn thing off. Then I got the news that the helper’s father had a stroke and she had to book a flight and she’ll now be gone three weeks more. Thankfully the interim helper can still be with me. What will be happening for the rest of the evening I cannot say, oh, no, I cannot say.

Today, I shall hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep. Then I’ll relax, do some errands and whatnot, and then I’m attending a wedding in the evening.

Tomorrow we have our post mortem dinner and I’ve decided on Dan Tana as the restaurant. Last time I was there was around May of 2012. So, table-made Caesar salad and spaghetti carbonara here I come. Next week there is a very erratic Kritzerland schedule due to having to work around certain performer issues, then I teach a musical theater workshop at LACC, then we have our stumble-through and then it’s sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, relax, do errands and whatnot, and attend a wedding. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite berries and how do you like to eat them and what desserts do you like them in? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, having had it up to my eyeballs with Time Warner and that kind of day.
