COMMISERATING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this week is flying by, like a gazelle dealing with people who have a half a brain missing. I commiserate, gazelle, I commiserate. Have I mentioned I commiserate? I do. I commiserate. Not only do I commiserate, I commiserate. Oh, and I commiserate. Now that I have commiserated, I can stop commiserating and get on with the writing of these here notes. In other words, I’ve commiserated and now I am, for the time being, finished with commiserating, although I will commiserate in silence from here on in and from on in here.

Yesterday was a mostly fine day, in which there was one annoyance that has been an annoyance for way too long, and I am determined that it end before the year does. No more Mr. Nice Guy, no more trying to be reasonable – it gets nasty from here on in, and that’s all I’m saying about THAT. I got eight hours of sleep, had a telephonic call, and then did some work at the piano. Then I did some writing for an hour or so, had an apple, answered e-mails, got the annoying e-mail, had a telephonic conversation about it, and then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I watched another episode of Real Humans, just to relax. I got a DGA screener of The Revenant but after reading several reviews I’m not sure it’s for me – it frankly sounds hyper-violent and I’m just tired of those kinds of films. I’m also kind of over man or woman in the wilderness kinds of films, especially when they run over 150 minutes. We’ll see if I change my mind about it – or maybe I’ll just watch the first ten minutes and see what’s what. After that, I got ready and then moseyed on over to the UPS Store and picked up a couple of packages – one had some homemade Christmas CDs from someone and the other contained a little monograph on the artist Milena, who did the Vogue painting I posted the other day. The good news is that my painting is featured in the monograph. I love when that happens and I also think it ups the value of the painting.

Then I went to Muse Margaret’s home environment for a cozy dinner. She and her ever-lovin’ Richard had a fire going, and we had a grand old time. For dinner it was salad, pot roast, rolls, and then a homemade apple pie for dessert – all of it extremely yummilicious. Since Richard is also a DGA member, we talked about all the screeners we’ve watched. It was my favorite kind of evening – small, fun, and lovelier than lovely.

After that I came home, had a telephonic call and that was that.

Today, a local dealer will be here at ten-thirty, then the helper comes and we’ll ship the rest of the new CDs, then I’ll eat, hopefully pick up some packages, write, do work at the piano, choose songs and gather up music, and a DGA screener will arrive at some point – I already know it’s Mad Max, and I hear that’s very good.

Tomorrow I have the usual day stuff to do and then I’m seeing a show at the El Portal – a farce directed by and starring Ray Cooney. Our Rob Stevens thought it was very funny, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m gathering it’s been a very tough sell as they’re giving away free tickets like crazy. Friday there’s something going on and hopefully someone will remind me what exactly it is. I have lots to do on the weekend and I think I’m seeing something on one of the two weekend days.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, ship the rest of the CDs, I must eat, hopefully pick up packages, write, do work at the piano, choose songs and watch a motion picture. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall commiserate, oh, yes, I shall commiserate.
