LEFTOVER PITH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon, and not only that but I have a work session at ten for the Kritzerland show. It’s so funny trying to write these here notes after writing fifteen pages of book. It’s amazing any words come out at all, and I wish I had some pith left but I’m pouring all the pith I have into the book. And yes, yesterday I did manage to write sixteen pages. At one point I thought I wouldn’t get past eight, but I just kept relaxing and coming back to it, and then had a little second wind and flurry at around ten-thirty and I finished the long chapter I was on, which was a lot of fun to do. I’m sure there will be a lot of futzing and finessing to do on those sixteen pages, just as there was on the fifteen from the day before, which is sort of how I began my day yesterday.

I was up at eight-thirty thanks to a robo-call from a company that has recently had to pay a fine of $8 million dollars and restitution of $3 million dollars to various people they bilked. You would think that would give these creeps pause, but no, they just keep on keeping on. I will call the agency that just took them to task if I get one more call. I may as well share in the bounty, and this company is one of the two most notorious in the country. I was so tired, that I answered some e-mails, and then got back into bed. There, I checked my other e-mail addresses and was happy to have a tiny miracle happen, so that was good. I put my head on my pillow, and fell right asleep and woke up at 11:40. I had an e-mail from little Hadley Miller’s dad saying they were going to Jerry’s Deli and I should come have lunch. I wrote him back and said I could meet him just after noon.

I futzed and finessed for ten minutes, got dressed and headed over to the restaurant. I haven’t seen them in a while, so we had fun catching up. Then I didn’t even bother to see if I had packages, I just came right home. Oh, and I had chicken tenders for my meal o’ the day.

Once home, I did have to deal with a small irritant, but it wasn’t terrible. Then I finished futzing and finessing and I wrote two or three new pages. I took a little break for some telephonic calls, and then wrote another four pages. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, just to relax, I put on a Flix of Net recommendation of a film from three years ago that I’d never seen, entitled The Paperboy. Well, let me tell you straight – I watched exactly forty-eight minutes of that tripe and could watch no more. One of the all-time worst and a deserved box-office and critical failure of the highest magnitude. Several of the reviews who didn’t like the movie, praised Nicole Kidman’s performance, which I found ludicrous (the praise and the performance) – first of all I just cannot stand looking at her face anymore – sorry, lips too damn big and the whole face just plastic, but the character is ludicrous as is everything about the film. I understand the novel by Pete Dexter is equally ludicrous and I have no intention of ever reading a book written by this person.

I had some potato chips for a snack, and then I went back to writing. I wrote five more pages for a total of twelve and that was going to be it. But I took a shower and wrote an additional four so I could finish the chapter. And that was that.

Today, I’ll be up bright and early, and then will do a work session at ten that should last around forty-five minutes. After that, I’ll go get something to eat, hopefully pick up some packages, and then I’ll futz and finesse and try to write seven to twelve pages and, if I’m up to it, maybe a few more.

Tomorrow, I I’ll Xerox all the new pages and get them to Muse Margaret and I’m hoping she’ll like them. Then I’m seeing our very own Doug Haverty in a play at the Group Rep Theater. Monday is our first Kritzerland rehearsal, which I’m very much looking forward to, and of course I’ll be writing all week, as well. By Monday I’ll be more than halfway through. On Wednesday we have a meeting with the ALS people to see if we’re doing this year’s benefit, because if we are we really have to move on it. Thursday is our second rehearsal, Saturday is our stumble-through, and Sunday is sound check and show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a work session, eat, hopefully pick up packages, futz and finesse, write new pages, relax, write, relax and write. Today’s topic of discussion: How many robo-calls or spam/scam calls do you get a day or in a week? I probably get between five and ten a day. What do you do when you get these calls? Do you engage them, yell, have fun at their expense, report them? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after which I will try to have some extra pith left over for these here notes.
