THE STOP-AND-START DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late and I must write these here notes in a hurry because I want to finish the section of the book that I’m currently in. I did not get as much writing done as I wanted to (currently eight pages, but it will be ten or eleven when I finish after I finish these here notes) because the damn day kept getting away from me. I hate when that happens. I was up a little before ten after almost eight hours of sleep. Once up, I had to answer a plethora, a veritable plethora of e-mails. Then I began to futz and finesse and at eleven the piano tuner showed up to tune the piano. I couldn’t futz and finesse while he was tuning, so I just did some other stuff until he was done. Then I futzed and finessed the rest of what I’d written the day before – the usual additions and subtractions and smoothing out. Then I wrote about a half page of new material.

I had to go over to the El Portal Theatre on some business, then I went directly to Jerry’s Deli where I had a patty melt and a few fries. That was all very good, and then I picked up a package and came home. I began writing again and got a couple of pages done, but then had to attend to scheduling issues with the Kritzerland show – it’s ten kids so it was a little crazy and there was some switching around that needed to get done. That took up time, and then I had to get the event posted on Facebook and that took time. Then I buckled down, Winsocki and wrote about five more pages. I needed a little break so I sat on my couch like so much fish.

I watched the fourth and fifth episodes of Top of the Lake. The episodes are only about forty-six minutes but they seem much longer. I then went to Gelson’s and got some fruit and snacks, then came home and wrote another page, after smoothing out some stuff I didn’t care for. Then I decided to watch episodes six and seven so that I had that show out of the way. In the end, it was a very strange series and I can’t say I loved it, but the actors were very good, especially Elisabeth Moss – her accent came and went, but she’s just a wonderful actress.

I ate some melon balls and then took a shower. Then I wrote another page and a half, but had to stop to write these here notes. That’s what the whole day was – a stop-and-start day. But the piano is tuned and I’ll write another hour and get up to at least ten to twelve pages, which is fine. In fact, that should put me at the end of a chapter. I’m still trying to find a musical director for the LA show, and Kay Cole had to drop out so I’m working on another choreographer – I’m really hoping it works out.

Today, I have to do what I didn’t do yesterday – go to the SAG pension office in the Bank of Bur. I’ll try to get up by ten, do an hour of futzing and finessing and writing, then I’ll do the pension thing, then eat, and then spend the entire afternoon writing without interruption other than a break or two.

The rest of the week is more of the same, and we’re trying to get a Kritzerland release ready, too. And I still have yet to do a show order and until I do that I can’t start the commentary.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, futz and finesse, visit the SAG pension office, hopefully pick up packages, eat, and write, write, write (that is three writes). Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite types of flowers? Do you grow any flowers? What flowers did you love as a kid? And what do you think of no fragrance roses? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that today is not a stop-and-start day.
