PHOTOS AND PERKS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a rather wacky but fun day and evening yesterday. First off, it was back to the storage facility, where we got rid of another huge batch of stuff – I’m talking about receipts and records going back forty YEARS. All gone and won’t be missed. I did find more interesting stuff in the memorabilia boxes – I’m happy with most of that stuff staying in boxes and when I’m gone someone can donate it or figure out who might like to have it. But I found some more fun photos to share with the likes of you dear readers. First we have a few more photos from the Partridge Family episode we shot on the TSS Fairsea. Here’s one of Susan Dey – see if you can figure out what’s cupped in her hand – if you do, you’ll know why she’s reaching in her purse.

Here’s one of the very nice Dave Madden, who played Ruben on the show.

Here’s one with the producers of the show – Mel Swope and Bill Bickley. Mel was the person who hired me for the first episode I did – he was its director. They liked me so much they just kept bringing me back.

Here’s me getting wired for sound.

And here’s a picture of the Darling Daughter aged one month.

The other news was that I added a lot of new perks to the Indiegogo campaign. We’re just under 70% funded, which means we’ve gone up seven percent in three days, which is pretty good. I put up three original pieces of art – Lost in Boston I, Lost in Boston II, and Lost in Boston III – the original paintings done for those covers by artist Leon Joosen. He was, at that time, a Disney artist who worked on The Little Mermaid (he was one of the people who conceptualized Ariel) – they’re great covers and I made them very affordable (much less than I felt they’re worth, but this is to raise dough for a good cause). I also put up the amazing David Byrd art for the cover of The Anastasia Affaire – it’s a brilliant piece of art and so check out them perks by following this link.

And here are some images of those covers.

I also put up a signed Unsung Sondheim poster, signed to me by the artist, the legendary set designer, Tony Walton, and also by Sondheim himself. I priced it pretty reasonably and it sold in about three minutes. I have one piece of art left that I’m saving for the final few days – the original Oscar Liebman art for the original production of 110 in the Shade. It differs slightly from what they used, because they did some stuff to it after it was printed, but it’s clearly this art. Here’s a photo of it.

Otherwise, I was up at ten after only seven hours of sleep. I did my morning stuff, then went and had a cup of soup, an omelet and a bagel. I’ve been trying to be a very good boy for the past six days, eating-wise, and I think my stomach is beginning to shrink a bit, because for the first time in Jerry’s history I could not finish my food. I left at least a third of the omelet, and it was a really good omelet so that should tell you just how full I was. Then we went to storage and did all that stuff.

We found all the art (some of it was here in the garage), and I spent quite a bit of time doing all that listing and making sure the proper Facebook groups knew about it. Then I happily found out that dear reader ChasSmith had purchased the Kindle of Patrick Bronstein Presents, which he read, and wrote a really touching and wonderful review of, so check it out on Amazon – just search the book title in Kindle Books. I had an impromptu get together with a mom and her daughter – said daughter has been in a couple of Kritzerland shows. They called me from Jerry’s and I went there and just sat with them for an hour, which was fun.

Then I came back home and worked at the piano quite a bit. I never had time to finish Cowboy, so I’ll do that tonight after I get home from dinner.

Today, I have a few things to do in the morning, then around twelve-thirty I’ll mosey on over to the Norris Theater, which is a bit of a drive, to see Barry Pearl’s production of 13. I’m not fond of the show for various reasons, but I am fond of Barry. As soon as it’s over, I’ll hurry back home, and then I go to my dinner with Muse Margaret and her ever-lovin’ Richard. I do have to pick up some packages at some point. Eubie packaging is at the printers and should go to the pressing plant by the end of next week.

Tomorrow is our Annual Oscar Bash here at hainehisway.com. It’s the best Oscar partay in town and you will not want to miss the fun goings on around these here parts, and I say that strongly. Then Monday is our first Kritzerland rehearsal, then there are a lot of meetings and meals, then our second Kritzerland rehearsal, then our stumble-through, and then we relax for a couple of days before we do the show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, see 13, pick up some packages and then sup with Muse Margaret and Richard. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your all-time favorite show logos for musicals? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have found all those fun photos and to have added those fun perks. I’d love a couple of these paintings to end up with dear readers, so check them out and see if you can handle the price.
