SUNDAYVILLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, as Sundays go, yesterday was a Sunday. There was nothing Saturday or Monday about it, it was strictly from Sundayville. I did get almost nine hours of sleep, and I needed it. The morning was, of course, completely gone and even though I’d gotten a good night’s beauty sleep, I was pretty groggy. I worked at the piano for a little while, and then I did an errand. When I came back I finished writing the commentary for the Kritzerland show, including the two songs that were added on Saturday, so that’s done and out of the way. Then I had to get ready for the Sami birthday dinner.

Her choice was Genghis Cohen. The last two times I’ve been there the food has been the best it’s ever been, and yesterday was the same. Everything was superb, from the orange chicken (extra crispy), to the crackerjack shrimp, to the green beans to the Kung Pao chicken. I actually ate a bit less that I usually do. Sami’s mom loves the moo-shoo pork, so she and Sami that, too. We had lots of fun, I heard all about The Addams Family, which Sami is doing at her high school, and Sami loved the present I got her, which were assorted bottles of Opi nail polish – and she loved the colors, which the nice saleslady helped me choose.

After dinner, I came right home, did a little more work on my songs, prepared everything for the announcement of our new release, and then finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched about forty-five minutes of some movie called Strangerland. It’s one of those slow, “arty” thrillers, and stars Nicole Kidman and Joseph Fiennes. It’s kind of irritating but I’ll finish it just to see where it’s going.

After that, I just relaxed and had a tiny bit of Beer peanuts, cashews, and almonds, oh my.

Today, I’ll be up by ten, then I have a noon meeting with my choreographer, and then the helper and I are going to the storage facility, where we’ll spend a few hours seeing what we can throw out, what we can sell, and what is the bare minimum I need to keep. There’s so much crap in there it’s not even funny. Years and years of film magazines – I used to love having them, but they’ve been sitting in storage for over two decades so I figure I’ll never look at them again. I do have some fun original art there, and some of it I will get rid of. As I mentioned, I’m going to sell one or two of the original David Byrd covers from Bay Cities. I don’t need them, and if it helps fund the Indiegogo campaign, that’s great. I’m not sure what to charge, so if any of you dear readers has any ideas on that front let me know in the posts. Tell me what you think a reasonable amount is. After that, I’ll eat, hopefully pick up packages, and then I’ll work on the LA show, and then relax.

The rest of the week is meetings and meals, hopefully approving the book galley, having another set of auditions, finalizing that casting, and hopefully getting more material for the LA show from some very errant and truant writers. I can’t believe how slow this stuff has come in – it’s really like pulling teeth. I would never do that to anyone creating a show who asked me to be involved. If I said yes, they’d have their material very quickly. I may also have to call Apple – the computer is being very retarded for the last few days. That disgusting spinning beach ball comes up every time I try to do anything or go anywhere on the computer, from the Internet to Word stuff to anything really. Something is clearly up and I’ve done everything I know to do. I am going to take a bunch of the really big video files and put them on one of the back-up drives I have then I can get rid of all those huge files and maybe that will help. I probably should just restart the computer, but that always makes me nervous when I’m working on so much stuff. We shall see.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a meeting, go to storage, eat, hopefully pick up packages, do some writing, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Who are your favorite artists? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a fairly okay visit to Sundayville.
