February 2, 2016:

THE CAPTIVATING DAY

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, how pleasant it was to have a first day of February completely devoid of drama or anything even approaching drama. It was actually kind of captivating, if you get my drift and I know you do because my drift is quite easy to get. The Captivating Day – that sounds like an Ealing film. I began the captivating day with a telephonic conversation with Muse Margaret, going over suggested fixes and making the ones we were comfortable with. Many of them had to do with two different style issues – one we did (and it was an easy global fix) and one we didn’t do, just because we felt that because the majority of this book is dialogue we don’t really have to be worrying about extremely correct punctuation, especially when it interrupt the flow of the way Patrick Bronstein talks.

Almost immediately upon getting off the phone, I got proofer number three’s manuscript and went through that. There were a few really good catches, and a couple of things that were easy to fix, punctuation wise. There were only five things to go over with Muse Margaret, which we did. So, that’s the end of the proofing process part one. The book is now locked and has gone to Grant Geissman. Once it’s an actual book layout then I will, of course, print it and proof it one final time, then we’ll enter those corrections. I’m really hoping we can get all this to the publisher within the next week-and-a-half.

I went and had a patty melt and a few onion rings, then came home. Once here, we got the flap copy done. I had a nice telephonic conversation with a singer I’m hoping will be able to do the March Kritzerland show. I did some work on the computer, had some more telephonic calls, and then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on the Flix of Net entitled Collateral Damage, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s a cookie-cutter silly film from start to finish. There is no beat in the film that you can’t predict twenty minutes before it happens. Then I went and got a snack from Gelson’s, came home, ate it, and did a little more work on the computer.

Today, I shall hopefully have another pleasantly pleasant day. I’ve kept it somewhat free in case Grant needs me to come over to work on the book, but I’ll also hopefully finish casting the Kritzerland show, plus I have to hire a musical director for the LA show and I have to get the whole Indiegogo page set up for a launch in the next two weeks. We’re also working on the trailer for the new book – I wrote the copy for it and my wonderful editor, Marshall Harvey, is pulling stuff for it now. At some point I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up packages, and at some point I’ll relax.

The rest of the week is meetings and meals, getting the book ready for the publisher, getting the blurbs for the back cover, seeing a couple of things, banking, and other stuff.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finish casting, choose songs for the singers, gather music, hire a musical director, work on the Indiegogo page, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: When you were a child what was your favorite dinner your mother made for you – and your favorite childhood dessert? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping for another captivating day.
