THE DARLING DAUGHTER, HER DARLING HUSBAND, AND THEIR DARLING DOG

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I had a lovely visit with the Darling Daughter and her Darling Husband and their Darling Dog yesterday. In fact, they went off to see Gwen Stefani on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and I babysat the Darling Dog, whose name was Sophie. She missed her mom and dad from the second they left, but we did take a nice long walk and she came in the house, checked things out, but mostly stayed outside playing the waiting game. Once they were back from the Stefani Thing, the humans went and had dinner at the local Thai place, which, alarmingly, had only us and one other table of diners in the entire restaurant, while across the street Barrel and Ashes, a mediocre-but-trendy barbecue jernt had people spilling out into the street. Go know. Dinner was really fun – we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. Then we came home, they packed up their stuff and headed back to Arizona, whilst I did some work on the computer, mostly having to do with getting a version of the book prepared to be an eBook via Create Space. I’m following the same template I used for Welcome to My World and hopefully it will work. The real problem is I now have to figure out how to enter the last four sets of corrections that I did – I should have waited until we were absolutely done, but I just wanted to see if it would all work and now I don’t feel like redoing the whole thing, although I suppose I could try cutting and pasting from the finished manuscript and formatting from there. Maybe I’ll do that, just to see what’s what.

Prior to all that, I’d gotten about six hours of sleep. I got up and got the news that the book had gone to the team that assembles it, so this part should go quickly and more smoothly, as the guy who leads that team has done my last eight books and knows the routine. So, that was good news. Then I uploaded a few more Welcome to My World clips for you to view. Here’s The Dissection of the Frog – this is the number in which we bring up an audience member. I would always choose the person and we’d text Sami and tell her which seat to go to. This was the performance where we surprised her with Hunter Parrish. It’s really fun and she was at her absolute best in this number and he was really sweet and fun.

Wasn’t that adorable? Next is the song that’s kind of become Sami’s signature song, Annie. Originally written in 2004 for What If, she kind of owns it now. She’s performed it many times in Kritzerland shows and we’ve posted those videos, but here you get the monologue and set-up to it and she does that wonderfully.

And last for today is the song Prom – you’ll see one of the lightening fast quick changes she did, but you won’t see the one that followed the number, that actually got gasps from the audience it was so fast and done right onstage.

After uploading those, I had a little eleven-thirty food stop – had an omelet and a bagel to tide me over to what I knew would be a late dinner, which didn’t occur until eight.

Today, I have to make a show order so I can continue writing the Kritzerland show commentary. I’ll do some of that writing, I’ll hopefully pick up packages (I’m sure the Beer Nuts arrived a day or two ago), and then I’ll mosey on over to Doug Haverty’s and we’ll drive out to Sierra Madre. Once there, we’ll eat some Eyetalian food, then we’ll mosey on over to the theater and get everything set up for the staged reading. Once our gals are there, we’ll run a few blocking things and then we’ll do the show.

The rest of the week is meetings and meals, writing the commentary and I know I have to see some show or other and hopefully someone will remind me.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, make a show order, hopefully pick up packages, write commentary, eat, and do a staged reading. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a visit from the Darling Daughter and her Darling Husband and their Darling Dog.
