117%

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, our Indiegogo campaign for the LA show is done and I would have to say it was a rousing success. As I write these here notes we have thirty minutes left – at this point we have achieved our goal, surpassed it, covered all the Indiegogo fees and Paypal fees, and have a few hundred that will buy us another band member or close to it. I’m sure we’ll be able to do the extra band member because I think the sound package and designer/engineer will come in a bit less than budgeted. So, at this point we are at 116% funded. We’ll see if there’s any surprises left by the time I post these here notes.

It was a whirlwind day yesterday, mostly consumed with cheerleading for the Indiegogo. I put up several new perks, several of which sold instantly. I got about eight hours of sleep, then had some telephonic calls, then went and had an egg salad sandwich for my meal o’ the day. I came directly home and continued my cheerleading all throughout the day – it was actually a lot of fun. I had other telephonic conversations, I recorded the new song and sent it to the sheet music guy, and I did some work on the LA show. We set two meetings for next week – one meet and greet for the cast, and I’ll also record them singing something so I have their voices in my head as I assign songs. Then a second meeting, a production meeting. I’ve got the sound package pretty much booked now and know who my designer is, so he’ll hopefully come to that meeting and suss out what we’ll need, but I’ve been told by the owner of the company that it will definitely be within the budget I told him we have, so that’s great. After all that, I needed a little break so I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Yesterday, I watched a few more episodes of House of Cards – it’s getting wearying by now, very few interesting plot points in these episodes, along with a lot of repetition. Robin Wright has not only gotten her executive producer credit, she also seems to be the director du jour of this season. To me, that would be akin to Edie Falco directing most of The Sopranos. When you’re playing a leading pivotal role in a series I think you should not also be directing – just my opinion.

Then I got news our packaging for our next release had been approved. Then I had a shocker. I found out that my business account had charges I didn’t make – very annoying and I spent a lot of time with the fraud department going over a lot of stuff. And we also found out that Experian, who I have NEVER dealt with, has been charging two fees of 17.99 EVERY month for at least the last three years. I’ve never noticed it and of course the bank wouldn’t flag it because it looks pretty normal. Sadly, I’m only going to get back a year of that money, but I may threaten them with a class action lawsuit because apparently this is a major bait and switch thing that’s affected thousands of people. But I just don’t believe I would have ever given the business debit card to these people even if I fell for the one-dollar credit report bait and switch. And I tried logging in to Experian and couldn’t, which means I’ve never been to their site. From what I’ve read, there are three other credit-reporting sites tied into this monstrosity and it’s probably one of them using the Experian name. I’ll be calling Experian tomorrow, using my loud, pushy voice. Meanwhile, I believe all the other disputed charges, all that money, will be put back into the account in the next day or two. Bank of America couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. I will call back tomorrow and point them to the Google search I did, which details the Experian thing so they see that that’s fraudulent. They shut down that card and will have a new one to me in five days.

Then I went to Gelson’s and got a couple of drumettes and a salad with veggies and red wine vinegar. It feels like you’re eating so much food with those salads, but virtually none of it has any calories. I came home, ate that all up, watched another episode of House of Cards, and then just kept cheerleading.

Today, I really need to cast our show and choose songs. But I also really need to relax after this crazy week. I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, and then I’ve just got to not do much of anything else.

Tomorrow I’ll work on the Kritzerland show and the LA show and Sunday will be the same. Next week will be a very busy one.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, cast, choose songs, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, our next release. Blu-ray, Exodus. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, thrilled to have finished our Indiegogo campaign so successfully. Addendum – we went up one more percent to 117%. We were just $425 shy of the dream goal, but that’s fine.
