APRIL LOVE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, may I be the first to point out, and I know it may be Foolish of me, but it’s April. Not only April, but the first of April, aka April Fools Day, the day when we get to be foolish but hopefully without anything too dopey on the discussion board. So, let me also say that it is my fervent hope and prayer that April will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.

Yesterday, we had our second Kritzerland rehearsal and it was a doozy and so much fun. Our merry cast of players were all in good form, and we had little Hadley Miller, who ran through her number, Fortuosity. I gave her a few bits to do, and she’s really cute doing the song. I think it’s going to be a really fun show. Prior to the rehearsal I was awakened at eight-fifteen in the morning by the most horrendous hammering you’ve ever heard and it would not stop. So, I got a little under eight hours of sleep, but really needed to sleep more, but thanks to these cretins thinking they own this neighborhood that wasn’t possible. I had to restrain myself from going out there and giving them a piece of my mind. What should really happen is that a group of neighborhood homeowners who are FED THE HELL UP with this crap, should go in the middle of the night and knock down the monstrosity. That would teach them a thing or three. There should be a law that they cannot make that kind of noise before ten in the morning. There’s plenty of other stuff they could do and the not amusing thing about it, by ten they were done with the loud hammering and doing quieter things. I HATE these people and what they’re doing to this neighborhood. It is truly nauseating.

So, I got up, answered e-mails, tried to go back to sleep and may have gotten an additional ten minutes of sleep. Then one of the top guys at the publisher called me – he’s been there from the time I came to them – he was who I first called back in 2001 – he was appalled to hear of the problems and told me he would personally make sure everything was getting done correctly and in a timely manner. So, that was good. Then I went and had a cup of soup and a sandwich. After that I picked up no mail or packages and came home.

Then I prepared everything for the announcement of our new release, which is the gorgeous soundtrack to the film The Sailor Who Fell from Grace With the Sea by Johnny Mandel. I love Mr. Mandel and I really have wanted to have something by him on Kritzerland and now we do. It is a short but stunning score and a must-have if you love beautiful music. Here’s the cover.

Then I just tried to relax until rehearsal. Guy Haines was a no-show so I ran through the number he’s doing. After rehearsal, I was too bushed to watch anything, so I just did some work on the computer, heard another lovely Lanny orchestration, and tried to feel good – again, I think had I gotten nine or ten hours I would not feel like I do. Keep sending excellent vibes and xylophones for a healthy me. I went through the commentary, made some changes and smoothed some things out, and that’s all ready to go now.

Today, I shall be up at six to announce the new title, then back to bed and I hope to get at least eight or nine hours of sleep. My intention is just to take it easy, eat, hopefully print out a LOT of orders, hopefully pick up packages, do some banking, and then just relax.

Tomorrow is our stumble-through, Sunday is our sound check and show, and then next week I have to completely cast and assign songs for the May Kritzerland show, and then make sure everything is ready for the start of rehearsals for the LA show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, announce our new title, take it easy, hopefully print out a lot of orders, hopefully pick up packages, eat, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, Kritzerland stuff. Blu-ray, Where the Sidewalk Ends is next up. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to welcome in April and show a little April Love, and state that it is my fervent hope and prayer that April will be a month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
