THE PAPER TECH AND THE RUN-THROUGH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have to do short notes, I’m afraid, because I have to deal with an emergency situation and then get to bed. So, on to the notes.

Yesterday, I got another night of ten hours of sleep, a very good thing. Once up, I did the usual things – answered e-mails, had telephonic calls, and then I moseyed on over to LACC for our paper tech. That actually went fairly quickly. Our sound guy also loaded in and so he’s all ready for Saturday’s tech. We then convened for our run-through with light-over. There wasn’t much lighting over, but the run-through had lots of really good stuff – some things that hadn’t been clicking began to click and most of the musical stuff was really very good. We still have work to do on the sketches, but they’re finally starting to come to life. After, I gave some notes and then we all left to be on our way to Genghis Cohen for a cast dinner.

The Genghis Cohen dinner was really fun and the food was, as always, superb. After that, I came home and had a rather inane telephonic conversation and am just trying to deal with that as I write these here notes.

Today, I have to be at LACC at ten-thirty. At eleven-thirty we begin our cue-to-cue – while I’m hoping that goes smoothly I suspect it really will take all day long and perhaps into the evening a bit.

Tomorrow we’ll continue tech and I’m really hoping we can get two runs of the show in. Sunday is, of course, a day off, and then it’s barreling toward opening night – Monday a dress rehearsal, Tuesday another, Wednesday our final dress with a few invited audience members and then we have our preview on Thursday and we open on Friday. The band joins us on Tuesday.

Just had another telephonic conversation and now must go to bed because I must be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for our long cue-to-cue day. Or, conversely, I must be bushy-eyed and bright-tailed. I do wonder what we’ll be having for lunch today. That is a conundrum wrapped inside of an enigma, if you get my drift and I know you do because you are dear readers who know drift when you see it.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a cue-to-cue and at some point eat something amusing. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – like I’ve had a second to listen to a CD or watch a Blu-ray. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that everything will be fine when I arise in the morning because, you know, we need everything to be fine.
