June 10, 2016:

A SLIGHT CASE OF FOOD POISONING

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, here is what we learned from the incident of the nachos with ground beef – clearly there was something, most likely the beef, that had gone bad, because I’m pretty certain I had a mild case (thankfully) of food poisoning. I really thought I was going to vomit on the ground before going to bed last night, but I have this position in bed – I call it my don’t vomit position, so I got into that and other than getting up a couple of times during the evening to use to loo (ool, spelled backwards), I strayed not an iota or inch from that position and I did not, in fact, vomit on the ground. But I could not even think about food until about eight last night, and even then I took it VERY easy.

Yesterday was a nauseous kind of day. I got about eight hours of sleep, got up, was nauseous, answered e-mails, was nauseous, had some telephonic conversations, was nauseous, and then I buckled down, Winsocki and spent a few hours doing liner notes and getting the packaging information ready for the LA show cast album release. Then I went to Gelson’s and got a few things, since all I had in the house was Sno-Caps, Jujyfruits and other crap that I could go nowhere near. So, I got some rice (the packets you microwave) – I got white and also rice pilaf. I got some bagels, too, then I came home and took a chance and had the rice pilaf since my hunger had definitely overtaken my nausea. It was good and it seemed fine and I had a bagel, too, and that seemed fine. I’d been drinking Diet 7-UP all day and that definitely helped. I watched the first few minutes of a Scottish motion picture, which I’ll talk more about when I finish it.

And before we go any further, here are a couple of videos from last Sunday’s Kritzerland show. First up we have You’re So Vain by Carly Simon, as sung by Keri Safran and some very special guests.

I love Keri and her guests, don’t you? Then we have Sami Staitman doing a wonderful Carole King put-together.

And finally, another number from the LA show, this one called We Look Ahead – it’s long, but Robert Yacko is really wonderful in this. The song is by me, and the monologue is by Doug Haverty. Hope you enjoy it.

Today, I’ll hopefully arise after a good night’s beauty sleep and hopefully sans nausea. Another local dealer is coming by, then I’ll hopefully pick up packages, then I’m seeing a production of The Fantasticks in North Hollywood, and then I’m sure we’ll got out after for a bite – the theater is literally across the street from Little Toni’s but I just don’t think I can eat there anymore – I suppose I could just have a salad if that’s where folks want to go. I might suggest the Eclectic Café or somewhere like that.

Tomorrow I’ll go pay a visit to Mystery and Imagination Books, which I’m sure will be a bit sad. After that, I’ll relax and then I have a meeting at seven for the ALS show – not sure where that’s taking place, but it will be at a restaurant of some sort. Sunday I’m seeing Barry Pearl in a play, his closing performance. Not sure if we’ll be eating or not. Then next week is busy putting the finishing touches on the LA cast album, getting it to mastering, approving the packaging, and announcing it.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, hopefully feel better, hopefully pick up packages, relax, and then see The Fantasticks. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, the soundtrack of Hurry Sundown and various upcoming Kritzerland projects. Blu and Ray, the Scottish movie, followed by finishing Dr. T, followed by an import of Fritz Lang’s Woman in the Window. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping that the slight case of food poisoning will be completely gone by the time I arise.
