A WHITER SHADE OF PALE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, the green slime of the pool water, after about five hours of work by the pool man, is now a very light shade of green and will hopefully soon be a beautiful, sparkling blue or, at the very least, a whiter shade of pale. The pool man still hasn’t figured out why the remote is wonky, and we both think that it’s also causing the hot tub to drain when it’s in auto mode once the pool motor shuts down – it has to do with the hot tub valve being either open or closed and since I’ve never touched the valve there is obviously something weird going on with the remote. So, the pool man’s boss will now have to come and fix or adjust the remote. That took up the entire morning right up until the time Nick Redman arrived and we went on our merry way to pick up his auction items.

We had a nice drive out there, and were done in fifteen minutes. We went to Jerry’s Deli, where he had some meat balls and I had a pickle. Then I came home and was surprised to find the pool man still here. What an epic job. Since I’d only gotten six hours of sleep, I was hoping to relax but I never really found the time. I did a jog, did some work at the piano, answered e-mails, had a few telephonic calls, and did some work on the computer.

Then it was time to mosey on over to the Smoke House for dinner. I was meeting with a mom and her son, said son will be doing the all kid Kritzerland show in either January or February, so I wanted a little bonding time and so he’d know how we work and what is expected. I had the salmon on a plank – first time and VERY calorie friendly – it was excellent. I had a half a baked potato with much less butter than usual, a small Caesar to start, and, most astonishingly, only one thin piece of the garlic cheese bread. I had some strawberries for dessert. The kid is a really good kid and I think he’ll have fun doing the show.

After that, it was late and I came home and did my usual evening stuff.

Today, I’ll be up at 8:45, as I have a 9:45 haircut, which I desperately need. Then I’ll hopefully pick up packages, eat, jog, and then we have two, maybe three, rehearsals for the ALS show including one with Miss JoAnne Worley. Then some folks are coming over to watch a motion picture, which I believe will be North by Northwest.

Tomorrow I have a brief work session in the afternoon, otherwise I have a lot to do and we still haven’t found our cast replacement yet, so that is absolutely imperative. Saturday is a birthday dinner with David Wechter who had a big ol’ birthday last week. Not sure where we’ll be going. Sunday may just be a day of rest – we shall see.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, get a haircut, hopefully pick up packages, eat, jog, have two or three rehearsals and have a movie night. Today’s topic of discussion: I love the song Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum – what are your favorite songs of the  groups like that, especially the others that had big symphony orchestras with the rock group? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall dream in a whiter shade of pale.
