THE VERY LATE NOTES THAT WERE VERY LATE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is very late and I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the evil eye will be here all too soon and I must try and get some beauty sleep. So, I have a unique idea – why don’t I just tell you about my day? I only got about six hours of sleep, got up, did a lot of stuff – answered e-mails, had a few text volleys, did some work on the computer, did a two-and-a-half mile jog and then had a rehearsal with some very talented youngsters.

They’re singing back up for Juliana Hansen’s number in the ALS show – I think they’re all under twelve. Our MD took them through the song and we kind of created their vocal parts on the fly and I think it came out well and now they all have the music on their phones and sheet music so they can learn it and be ready for the sound check on show day, although we may just have one more short rehearsal. The parents, some of whom I already knew, were very nice and it all took about ninety minutes.

Then they left and Michael Sterling came over and we talked about his anniversary show that I’m overseeing and that was a fun meeting. Then I did more stuff on the computer, settled on Hal Linden’s number for the ALS show, and then it was time to mosey on over to the Group Rep Theatre, where I met up with Doug Haverty and his ever-lovin’ Dorathy. He drove us over to the Coral Café, where we had a nice dinner. I had my usual chicken Caesar wrap and a small salad with a little Caesar dressing, all well under 1000 calories, especially when you factor in the calories burned in the jog. Then we went back to the theater and saw the play they’re doing.

I can’t really say much about the play other than it’s not my cuppa tea, but I will say it was really well acted. The lead was being played by the understudy and he was really terrific, I thought. But the entire company was strong, but it was a long play and one I simply not interesting to me. It was a small but appreciative audience. Also there was occasional dear reader Leslie Young and hubby Pascal, and daughters Alexa and Mia. After the show and paying our respects backstage, we all went back to the Coral Café. Since I’ve been REALLY good for four weeks straight, I decided I could treat myself to a small piece of cherry pie, which I did. The calorie count on cherry pie is very reasonable, under 300, so I think with the jog I probably netted out at around 1200 tops and that’s perfectly fine and I can absolutely lose weight eating up to 1500, which I haven’t done once in four weeks. It was pretty damn good pie, too, but a pretty small piece. The best part of the evening was when two separate people said, “You’ve lost a lot of weight.” That made me feel really good and will keep me on track and on my timeline.

After that I came right home and it was almost one o’clock and so I just began writing these here notes immediately.

Today, I’ll be up early, she of the Evil Eye will arrive and I will do the two-and-a-half mile jog and then most likely go have an omelet with no bread. I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, then I’ll come home and relax until about four-forty, at which time I’ll mosey on over to Calabasas, have a very light supper with Sami’s mom, and then it will be off to see Sami in Urinetown.

Tomorrow is happily a ME day. And then next week is crazy – I have rehearsals for Michael Sterling’s show every day but Friday and Saturday, plus a bunch of other stuff to take care of, and for the second time we lost a singer in the Kritzerland show, ironically the singer who replaced the other singer we lost – that’s terrible at this late date, but I have an ask out and hopefully she’ll be able to do it. One way or another we have to find someone by the end of today. I also have meetings and meals, and I’m also assembling the ALS show as we go. Thank goodness I did all the Kritzerland show work two weeks ago, so I don’t have to worry about any of that.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up early, jog, have an omelet, hopefully pick up packages, relax, eat a really light dinner, and see a show. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite inspirational songs – from shows, or from popular music, or whatever? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have completed the very late notes that were very late.
