Well, dear readers, it was a three documentary day yesterday. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it was a three documentary day yesterday. And since they’re all fresh in my non-fresh mind I’ll just speak of them now rather than later because later I shall speak of other important things. The first documentary was what they like to call a Netflix Original, although in this case I suspect they merely picked this up, since they seem to have had nothing to do with its production. This documentary was entitle Amanda Knox and was, as you might surmise, about the Amanda Knox case in Italy, where she and her Eyetalian boyfriend were convicted of murdering her roommate. And then acquitted them not once but twice, due to shoddy evidence, questionable police questioning, and any number of other things. I am no expert on the case, only having read a few articles over the years. The documentary was, for me, very good – compelling, occasionally riveting, occasionally moving. Aside from Ms. Knox, it is also a complete damnation of the media and how reprehensible they’ve become. There is a journalist interviewed throughout the documentary who is so sickening you will begin screaming at your TV. He is loathsome and everything that’s wrong with the media today. Their behavior on this story was nothing short of criminal, actually, and yet they are free to do this sort of thing without having an OUNCE or responsibility. For me, the calling out of these subhuman cretins is one of the strongest assets of this show.

The second documentary I can’t remember the title of and Googling it reveals nothing, but it’s something about the best erotic films of all-time, meaning porno and the adult film industry – so it really begins with Deep Throat and goes to the present. As each decade passes what you find is that the style and presentation is reflective of the times. Hence, the 70s stuff is almost charming in a way compared to the crap they do from the 90s on, when video was king and now streaming and the Internet rule. I’ve never been much of a fan of this stuff, but did enjoy spoofing it in The First Nudie Musical. While no one ever wants to acknowledge it, it’s really kind of amazing to me how influential our little movie was. Certainly on the South Park boys who obviously saw it when they were young since they “borrowed” one of the movie’s most iconic phrases, but also on porn. There are two movies talked about and shown that are shockingly similar in feel – Blonde Ambition, in which there’s a number that takes place in front of what looks like the exact plantation backdrop in our film, and Pink Champagne. But here’s the deal folks – you can try to be clever all you like but you fail because most of the movie is just real sex and therefore nothing surrounding it really matters. But as we get into 2000s it just gets crass and disgusting in just about every way. They interview a lot of current folks and to hear these actors and directors talk as if they were making art or real movies is unintentionally hilarious. And all the fake boobs and stuff is so off-putting – the 70s had real bodies, not fake crap. And this “grooming” of the last ten years is so off-putting to me on every level that I just want to vomit on the ground. Why any adult would find it appealing to see an adult female or male looking like a prepubescent child is something I will never understand. Sorry if some like that, but I find it nauseating and more than a little odd, but that’s just li’l ol’ me.

The third documentary was entitled The Witness and was about the Kitty Genovese murder. It mostly features Kitty’s brother looking for some kind of closure. It’s a fascinating look at someone who readily admits he’s obsessed by the case, and it’s really quite a good little film that was years in the making. I recommend the first and third documentaries very much. I think you can skip the second.

Prior to that, I’d gotten a little over eight hours of sleep, answered e-mails, printed out orders, and then I went to Gelson’s and got some chicken and ingredients for Wacky Noodles. I also picked up a package. Then I came home and sautéed what was a bit less than two chicken breasts, and made two cups of bow tie pasta, added the Wacky ingredients, added the chicken and voila I had a lovelier than lovely meal that was quite filling. Then I did some work on the computer, then began my viewing. Somewhere in the midst of the viewing I did a three-and-a-half mile jog. I heard from Hayley Mills and we’re getting together for brunch or something today, which I of course am looking forward to.

After the documentary marathon, I had a biscotti, then watched the Indiegogo campaign and posted a lot about it on Facebook. It ends in about fifteen minutes so it will coincide with these here notes being posted, so at the very end of them I’ll have the final tally. I keep hoping someone will come in at the last minute, but we shall see what we shall see.

Today, I’ll be seeing Hayley at noon o’clock, then I’ll come home, do a jog, and get ready to sup at Genghis Cohen – haven’t been there in a couple of months now, so am looking forward to having a yummilicious meal.

This week is all meetings and meals, singers are getting their music, we have to set up the box-office for The Brain from Planet X concert so we can begin ticket sales, and lots o’ other stuff, as well as hoping for some miracles.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must for example, have a brunch (although I’ll only have an English muffin or something like it), jog, and then sup at Genghis Cohen. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, after having a documentary marathon kind of day. And the final Indiegogo result is: No last minute contributions, but thanks to two contributions a few hours ago we made 122% of our goal, covered all our fees and raised a couple hundred more to cover the costlier than expected sound rental package. Thanks to all who contributed!
