CHANGING DATES AND OTHER TALES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am just sitting here like so much fish after a wacky little day that was mostly fine and even the not fine bits ended up okay in the end and that’s all that’s important. But now I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I must get a decent night’s beauty sleep. I did only get seven hours due to some brain cacophony, which resulted in me getting up a few times to write down some ideas and notes. I got up at ten and answered e-mails, then found out that after I’d done all this work to get everyone rearranged for a new show date for Kritzerland, I found out that they’d given away that date because some movie studio came and waved a big check and they only care about that. So, suddenly we were back trying to get everyone changed AGAIN. While all that was happening, I was also futzing and finessing – I realized that I didn’t have nearly enough fun or detail in one little section, so that was the first thing I did, add three pages of fun and detail and smooth out some other things. Then I had to be on my merry way to have a lunch meeting with Doug Haverty.

I can’t remember the name of the place – it was in Burbank and it was some kind of Asian fusion place. I don’t know from fusion but I liked it. I had garlic noodles with chicken – very good. We’re starting to work on a new project for 2018 and it was a fun and productive luncheon. Then I picked up a couple of packages, came home, and continued to deal with making sure everyone was okay with the new date. Whilst waiting, I wrote about three new pages, then took a bit of a break. By the end of the day, the new date was fine so that was a relief. I listened to some music (Miklos Rozsa – the three Polydor film music albums he did in the 1970s – just great), and then went back to writing and wrote another three or four pages. Then I took a hot shower, wrote another couple of pages for a total of a little over eleven. Then I just relaxed and listened to more Rozsa.

Today, I’ll be up early, I’ll futz and finesse, then do some banking, have a little light breakfast, do some errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, then come home. Once home, I shall write pages, finish making a show order, and perhaps begin writing the commentary to get that out of the way. Then I’ll continue writing and see where I am by the end of the day – if I’ve done eleven pages or so, I may just print them out and take them to Muse Margaret – that’s what I think will be best. Then I can relax and have the night off.

Tomorrow I’ll write and relax, write and relax, and write and relax, and hopefully hear from Muse Margaret and hope she’s okay with this first batch of pages. Then next week is all writing all the time, every day, every evening, hopefully doing at least ten or eleven pages a day, as that seems to be my pace on this book. I also have some meetings and meals, as well as some meals and meetings.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, futz and finesse, do some banking, have a little light breakfast, hopefully pick up packges, write, finish a show order, maybe start the commentary, and write – then perhaps print out pages and take them to Muse Margaret. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite movie scores from the Golden Age? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy all the changing of the dates is done and hoping we don’t have to go through this again this year.
