WOKE ME WHEN IT’S OVER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, may I just say how very bored I am with today’s new clichés? Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, may I just say how very bored I am with today’s clichés? Well, I can and I shall, not necessarily in that order. Let’s just start with woke, shall we? Woke. Really? Woke me when it’s over, baby. I don’t know what idiot cretin started it but now it’s everywhere and it is disgusting in any context. But along those lines, even though the word has been around for eons its use today is all new all the time – patriarchy. These two words are regurgitated so much all over social media that I just want to stuff a loaf of bread down the user’s mouths. But we have to have a little cliché for everything, from me, too to time’s up to woke. Then we have the always amusing “deeply troubled.” That’s a real head-turner. Then we have the equally noxious “false equivalency.” That’s a corker, that one is. And the lovable “Facebook hive mind.” And don’t get me started on the idiocy of “cis-gender” and junk like that, just don’t get me started on THAT. Well, kids, I am woke and I have had it with these today clichés so beware the fruit of the loom who uses them, beware the high and the mighty who use them, beware the naked and the dead who use them because I will be all over you and if I’m all over you you can, of course, say me, too, time’s up pal, stop with the patriarchy because I’m deeply troubled by this false equivalency from cis-gender hive minds. As Babs and Donna once said, enough is enough.

Yesterday was the usual day – the merde, disgusting as always, and then the other stuff. I got seven hours of sleep, answered e-mails, then went and had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog and a small side Caesar salad, every good. Then I picked up no packages or mail and came home. Grant came by for a few minutes, and then I slightly revised the new and improved ending, just removing one thing and revising a few dialogue lines so they flowed better and had more of the tone I’m liking for the end. I sent that revision to the proofers and two of them said they liked it – didn’t hear from the third, in fact I haven’t heard a peep from the third as to whether she’s even received the damn stuff and yes I’m talking to you dear reader Laura. Then I read it to Muse Margaret and she thought it helped what she already liked. So, that should be it now until I get all the proofers comments. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I watched a documentary about the National Lampoon. I liked it a lot more than the movie about the Lampoon that I watched the other night. The documentary is much raunchier and has much more of the spirit of the Lampoon. But given the world in which we live today, the completely PC, humorless world, the National Lampoon could not exist. They would be run out of town on a rail and be put out of business by the morally indignant twits of social media. In other words satire is dead as a doornail and not possible, at least not that kind of satire. I was never a fan, frankly, but they were audacious. The documentary is very well done and has interesting interviews throughout.

After that, I made a frozen dinner – two cheese enchiladas – not too many calories and actually pretty tasty. I also had some low-cal low-fat ice cream.

Today, Kay Cole is coming by for a quick visit, and then I’ll wait for my Freshly meals to arrive. I’ll either have one or two, depending on how I feel, but most of them are under 600 calories so having two you can still lose weight at 1200 calories a day. Then if I end up getting one of the proofer’s comments I’ll check those out and enter the ones that are basically grammar or punctuation, and anything I’m not sure about I’ll make note of and run by Muse Margaret. I’ll hopefully pick up packages and then I’ll relax and do Kritzerland stuff.

Tomorrow someone is coming to continue organizing and unboxing the garage. I also have other stuff to do, and then on Saturday I’m seeing a high school production of Guys and Dolls. Not sure what all else the weekend will hold.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a quick visit, get my Freshly meals, maybe enter fixes from a proofer should they arrive, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall hopefully not be woke.
