FASCINATING NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am in the midst of watching a fascinating documentary on the Flix of Net entitled Evil Genius.  It’s so fascinating that I’ll probably be up late continuing to watch.  It’s so fascinating that I may just have to write these here notes in a hurry to get back to episode one.  All that said, these here notes are anything but fascinating thus far and that is unacceptable.  So, these here notes need some fascination to be fascinating and some rhythm, too, some fascinating rhythm.  I have no idea what the HELL I’m talking about, which is fascinating in and of itself.

Yesterday was a day in and of itself, and it was fascinating and had rhythm.  I got about seven hours of sleep and once up I answered e-mails, had a long telephonic conversation, did some work at the piano and on the computer, then went and picked up a couple of little packages and came right back home.  Then I decided I’d been a little TOO smart-ass for my own good with one of the lyrics in one of the songs in this three-song section. It made me laugh when I did it, and it would probably make one or two musical theatre-savvy people laugh, but it didn’t feel right to me when I played through it, so I’m revising that section – it also didn’t feel like a proper ending to the song – I’m kind of merciless that way, like Ming the Merciless.  Then Grant and I went to Islands and had burgers and fries.  I had way too many fries but boy were they good. The burger was excellent, too.

After that, I came back home, continued to work at the piano and on the computer, had more telephonic calls, had a brief visit from the helper and another fellow who provides covers for things we’re releasing. Then I got the new soundtrack master – the raw transfer of the album masters sounded great, but now it’s got a little magic sauce on it and it sounds even better – and I LOVE the score, short as it is.  I loved it so much that I took two hours and wrote my portion of the liner notes, so that’s out of the way.    Then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night I started watching a motion picture on the Flix of Net entitled 6 Souls.  It sucked me right in for the first ten minutes until I realized I’d seen it during the first few months when I first got Netflix.  So I went and read what I wrote about it and sure enough I said it sucked me right in for the first ten minutes (really thirty minutes) and then it took a weird turn that just ruined the movie and that is exactly what happened so I shut the damn thing off, did a few other things, then found this Evil Genius documentary, about a bank heist case I knew absolutely nothing about – it’s fascinating, I must say.

Today, I think shall be mostly a ME day, although I do have to solidify the Kritzerland show, and I’m sure I’ll do some writing at the piano and on the computer.  I’ll eat, hopefully pick up some packages, but mostly I’ll relax and I’m sure I’ll finish the documentary.

Tomorrow is more of the same.  I’m invited to see our very own Sandy Bainum in a show, but it’s a hugely long drive and I think I also have a brief meeting that will preclude me from going out there.  I would have liked to see her in it, though.  This coming week is finalizing everything for the Kritzerland show, and then trying to finish up the score to the musical.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a ME day, solidify the Kritzerland show, do some writing, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite Gershwin songs?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have written some utterly fascinating notes.
