EATING A PARK BENCH

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, this month is flying by, like a gazelle trying to eat a park bench. I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to music after a long and occasionally irritating day – most of the irritants happening prior to twelve-thirty.  After twelve-thirty the irritants subsided but I now have to have another miracle to keep them subsided.  Just when you think breath will come easier then events conspire to make it not so. Still, the major miracle from last week enabled me to get past a big potential problem, so that was good.

Yesterday, I only got six hours of sleep again, so that is not quite enough sleep if you ask me.  Once up, I immediately saw the irritant but was able to JUST barely deal with it and get past it for the time being.  The entire morning was dealt with stuff that had to be dealt with but I got it dealt with. Once all that malarkey was done, then I went and met Kay Cole for lunch.  She cancelled the 54 Below show due to too few reservations and because the lady who books the club was really annoying her.  I’ve heard many stories of this woman and hope to never meet her.  We had a fun lunch – Kay has a lot of projects from now until the end of the year, so that’s good.  I had a chili, cheese, and onion hot dog with a side Caesar salad – excellent.  She also had the same thing but with fruit instead of the salad.

After that, I picked up some packages then came home.  Once home, I answered e-mails, did some work on the computer, and then read through material in advance of my six o’clock meeting.  I also listened to some music just because I could.

Then I moseyed on back to Jerry’s Deli for the six o’clock meeting at six o’clock. Kerry O’Malley was there as well as a pretty well known TV writer and we discussed a potential project.  I told them what I thought the best path was in terms of how to present the material.  I think there was some wariness on the part of the writer at the beginning, but that soon evaporated and by the end of it he was very much on my page.  So, we’ll see what happens.  I had some french fries.

After that, I came right back home.  I had several telephonic calls about this and that and also that and this, the helper came by, and he’s now going out of town until next Wednesday, but when he returns we’ll finally ship out Advise and Consent and maybe even Four Below Strikes Back if he’s able to go pick that up.  Then we’ll be all caught up with shipping.  I’m hoping I can announce one or two titles next week – in fact, I was hoping to announce one of them this week but that’s not going to be possible. Then I relaxed and listened to music. Oh, the one rehearsal we were supposed to have got cancelled, as the performer was able to come today with the rest of our cast.

Today, I’ll do my morning stuff, eat something very light and amusing, hopefully pick up packages, then we have our second Kritzerland rehearsal, which I’m looking forward to.  Not sure if we’ll go sup after.  Then I’ll just relax.  The good news is the September show is almost fully cast.

Tomorrow I’m hoping to do a late breakfast/early lunch with our very own Mr. Nick Redman and then I have to hie myself back to get a much needed haircut at two-fifteen.  After that, my time is mine own right through the evening.  Saturday we have an earlier than usual stumble-through and thankfully it’s an off week for she of the Evil Eye.  So our stumble-through is at noon then I’m sure there will be food after. Then I have to just relax and rest my voice.  Then Sunday I relax until it’s time for sound check and then we do our show.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do morning stuff, eat a little something, hopefully pick up packages, rehearse, maybe eat again, and then relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite movies involving children as main characters? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, whilst I perhaps dream of trying to eat a park bench.
