OVEROVERTIRED

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am so overtired that I’m overovertired.  I am beyond overtired to the nth degree.  Why is that, you might ask, and I might tell you.  I was actually in bed by one and ready to get seven hours of sleep.  I fell asleep quickly and two hours later I was up – something in the Chin Chin food was not sitting well with me – you know, you just can’t really digest it and it feels like it’s going to get in your throat.  It was the same the previous night.  So I did sleep some more but thought I was up, and in the end maybe I got four hours – and that’s just not enough on top of the two hours the previous night.  I was up at eight, answered e-mails, and then I had to mosey on over to the Autry, which is located across from the LA Zoo.  Now, hard as this might be to believe, I don’t think I’ve ever been to the LA Zoo or if I have I have no memory of it.  I know I would not like to look at anything in a cage.

The Autry is a huge complex – museum, two theaters, café – it’s quite interesting there. We were having a little production meeting at my request and I got all the information I needed in the ninety minutes we were there.  We had a little early lunch at the Autry Café and I took a chance and had a pulled pork sandwich.  And I have to tell you that it was the best damn pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had and I’ve had my share.  Not a single bit of fat, perfectly cooked, great barbecue sauce, great slaw on the sandwich, great pickles and a great bun – and it was pretty small so not too filling. I shared some sweet potato fries with everyone (they came with the sandwich).

After the lunch, I went to the mail place and picked up a couple of screeners, including Bohemian Rhapsody, shipped something, and then came home.  I obviously hadn’t had time to futz and finesse before leaving, so I began with that.  It took quite some time because I was tired and I’d been tired when I’d written those pages, so lots of typos and corrections, the subtractions and additions but I think it all came out very well.  I wrote two new pages pretty quickly but I was quite behind from the day before.  Then I just kept writing and taking breaks – I got six pages done, then nine, then eleven. I did sit on my couch like so much fish at some point and fell right asleep for ninety minutes.

I also watched the first hour of Bohemian Rhapsody, although I will admit that I probably dozed off a couple of times, but I’m enjoying it more than I expected to. In the end, I wrote sixteen or seventeen pages, so that was good, and I’m in a fun section of the book now.  I also took a hot shower, got a couple of good ideas, then wrote them down after.  I also began prepping our new release announcement.

Today, I’ll sleep in, if possible, then once up I’ll futz and finesse, I’ll write, I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up packages, I’ll write, I’ll write, and I’ll write.  I’ll probably finish Bohemian Rhapsody, too, and I’ll hopefully relax at some point.

Tomorrow I get a haircut, otherwise it’s all writing all the time, Friday I have a late lunch meeting and at some point someone is bringing me something.  I think our five titles will be shipping out on Friday, too, so that will be a big load off.  Saturday I have an early dinner thing and I suppose there is a possibility that I could actually finish the book that day or Sunday.  We shall see.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, sleep in, futz and finesse, write, eat, hopefully pick up packages, write, finish a movie, write, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you dear readers get to ask any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like.  So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping to get over being overovertired.
