PROOFING GOT THE BEST OF ME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, proofing got the best of me and I lost track of time and now look where we are.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, proofing got the best of me and now look where we are – these here notes are just starting to be written at midnight and while I am typing as fast as I can, my thinking is considerably slower than my fingers, if you get my meaning, thinking-wise.  But I shall endeavor to mush on as best I can.

Yesterday was about a half a day, since I didn’t wake up until noon-thirty due to not falling asleep until very late and needing a lot of sleep.  So, I believe I got about ten hours, which was good. Once up, I answered e-mails, had telephonic calls, did some work on the computer, and then I went and picked up a small package and continued on to Jerry’s Deli, where I began proofing whilst eating a very good Cobb salad and no bagel.  I also saw my friend Marsha Kramer there, so that was fun.  After that, I came directly home.  I proofed a bit more, listened to some music, and the day was already done by that point.

I had a nice telephonic conversation with dear reader Jeanne, I got some notes from someone I’d had read the book, said notes very specific to the main setting of the new book – I wanted to make sure all my details were correct.  Of course, some weren’t, so he gave me all the right things for those few things, and I’ve already entered a few of them.  I sat on my couch like so much fish but didn’t even turn on the thing known as a television.  Then I went back to proofing.  All in all, I think I proofed about fifty pages or so.

After that, I listened to a variety of music – classical, film, and a bit of Stan Kenton, and that was about it.  I did have some ice cream for my treat and a couple of Girl Scout chocolate/peanut butter things.  My goodness, these here notes are quite short so far, aren’t they?  But that’s what happens when you miss half the day.

Today, I won’t sleep quite so late, someone will come to pick up some CDs at some point, I will eat at some point, I will hopefully pick up packages at some point, but mostly I will continue proofing.  I’d really like to finish today so I can enter my fixes before getting the rest of the proofers’ stuff.  I also have to get to the garage and find a few things that I need to find because I need to find them.

Tomorrow will be more of the same and so will Friday.  Saturday there’s a two-hour rehearsal here for the Robby Awards, which I’m hosting on Monday with my old pal Linda Hart.  And I’ll be figuring out the March Kritzerland show, now that we’re fully cast.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, not sleep quite so late, proof, eat, hopefully pick up packages, have a CD pickup, proof, and then relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like.  So, let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, in full knowledge that proofing got the best of me.
