TAKING A HUGE GAMBLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry, for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon.  Yesterday was a very odd day in very many odd ways.  The day began after about six hours of sleep.  I had to make a decision on something – two ways to go – one gave a bit of comfort the other was taking a huge gamble, but in the end I opted for the latter and I won’t know whether it was the right gamble until Monday morning. I actually could have known sooner, but there’s something I’m not sure about, which requires an answer to a question and the place the answer has to come from is not open until Monday morning. So, I’ll have to be patient until then, but please send your most excellent vibes and xylophones for this huge gamble to pay off.

Other than that, I futzed and finessed, adding stuff, subtracting stuff, and finally writing a couple of new pages.  I had one unpleasant sour phone call that will hopefully turn sweet sooner than later, and one nice phone call.  I mostly wrote yesterday.  I never went to the mail place.  After about eight pages I took a break and went to Jersey Mike’s and got a large sub there as my entire food output for the day.  I came back and ate half of it and saved the other half for later.

I wrote more pages, took a few breaks, had the rest of my sandwich, which was really good, and then just wrote until I’d finished fifteen pages.  That left me a couple of hours to relax before having to write these here notes, and that I did, whilst listening to more music.

I also got word that tomorrow’s show is completely sold out.  I’ve already had two people contact me to see if there’s any way they can attend and luckily I was smart and held back three seats at my table of fourteen, so it should be fine.  I have to shave and shower right after posting these here notes, as there won’t be time to do that tomorrow before the stumble-through.

Today, I’ll be up early, she of the Evil Eye will arrive and then I would ordinarily leave but I shan’t.  What I will do is futz and finesse and write at least three new pages.  Only then will I leave and I have a few things that need doing so I’ll do them and then come back around noon o’clock and get everything ready for our two o’clock stumble-through.  After we finish, then I’m having an early dinner.  I had a place picked out, but something that was supposed to be ready for that dinner isn’t going to get to me until Tuesday, so we’ll just go somewhere fun and then they can come in next Saturday and we’ll do this other dinner then.  After the meal, I’ll come home and write until I’ve done fifteen pages, then I’ll relax.

Tomorrow I’ll write in the morning, then get ready for our sound check and show. I don’t have to leave for that until three-thirty, so I should be able to get five or six pages done by then, maybe more.  Then we have our sound check and then we play our show to a sold-out crowd, slightly over 130 people.  I’m sure some of us will grab a bite to eat after, then I’ll come home and write more pages.  Monday, I’ll be up early to ask the important question, and then I should know pretty quickly if my huge gamble will pay off – and I am praying mightily that it will.  Then I’ll print out pages, Xerox pages, and deliver pages to Muse Margaret.  The rest of the week is writing, meetings and meals, and whatever else needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up early, futz and finesse, write, do things that need doing, have a stumble-through, eat, write, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion:  Where did you have the best steak dinner you ever ate?  What made it the best?  What accompanied the steak?  Do you make steak at home and if so, how?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, praying that the huge gamble pays off on Monday.
