IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it has come to my attention that today is Saturday and that she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and therefore I must write these here notes in a hurry, and so I shall, starting here, starting now. So, let me begin by saying that it is Saturday.  And they say we aren’t with it and happening.  Pish tosh and also tosh pish.

Yesterday, it came to my attention that I slept an astonishing eleven hours. I did not arise until two in the afternoon.  Can’t do that again, but I guess I needed the sleep.  But the day was basically over before it began.  I answered as many e-mails as I could but the Mac Mail program was having a fight with the AOL program and so I let them duke it out and it was working properly after about three hours of that nonsense.

Then I went and picked up some packages, then had some iffy chicken tenders for food.  I do not care for iffy chicken tenders but it’s a real crap shoot with them at Jerry’s Deli. Last time they were great, this time they were iffy.  Still, I ate them in a jiffy.  Then I came home.

Once home, I listened to some music, answered more e-mails, printed out a few orders, ate a bagel, and then sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray, one of those Warner Archive affairs, this one entitled Queen of Outer Space.  I saw the motion picture when it came out in 1958 and I enjoyed it for what it was – silly, but I did love my cheap sci-fi.  And boy is this one cheap.  They even use the crew costumes from Forbidden Planet.  But any film that features Dave Willock in a leading part is a must-have.  Those in the know know that Dave Willock was the daddy to Muse Margaret. He was a really nice guy, too. The film today is, of course, a campy delight, but anything with Zsa Zsa Gabor is a campy delight.  The transfer is aces – beautiful color and a nice upgrade from the DVD.

Then I started another motion picture on Blu-ray entitled The Fifth Cord, one of them Eyetalian giallo things made in the wake of The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.  I only got fifteen minutes in so can’t really say anything one way or the other.  Then I listened to some music and relaxed.

Today, she of the Evil Eye will arrive and I’ll beat a hasty retreat to have a light breakfast.  Then I have to see a matinee of a play that I’ve already been warned I will hate, so that will be fun.  After that, I’ll probably come home since Dino’s isn’t happening, unless I go there myself and just have a slice or two.  I’ll finish the movie, I’ll try to do the show order, and I’ll relax.

Tomorrow appears to be a ME day, so that will be enjoyable.  I’m hoping to get Grant the book by Monday morning so he can begin designing it – I still have not received proofer number three’s stuff, so I’m afraid I’ll have to live without this time, unless it arrives today. I’m still waffling about changing the title and trying to do some research in that regard.  But we have three alternates that I can live with if I feel we must.  Next week, I’ll write the show commentary, have meetings and meals, and it’s a busy little week.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a light breakfast, I must hopefully pick up packages, I must see a matinee, I must figure out a show order, and then I must relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your most favorite cheesy sci-fi films from the 1950s?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as it has come to my attention that I must now post these here notes.
