THE RAINS CAME AND THEN SOME

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we had us a deluge yesterday.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, we had us a deluge yesterday.  It did abate for a while here and there, but when the rains came the really came – pouring it was, from the time I woke up at around ten straight through to around one, at which time I went to the mail place to retrieve a couple of packages. Before coming back here, I stopped at Taco Bell for some food to bring home, and I thought for a brief moment about going to K’s Donuts to get Grant’s mom some donut holes, which she loves. Since she’s been refusing to eat I thought it might be interesting to see if those would perk her up.

Sadly, when I got home I saw the news that she’d passed away.  She’d stopped eating some days ago, not taking in enough to sustain, and when old people do that it’s because they want to pass. She had 99 years and that’s pretty incredible.  I’m happy to have known her the little that I did, and I’m happy that the Kritzerland shows made her so happy.  We’d always sing happy birthday to her when her birthday and our shows coincided and she was Grant’s greatest cheerleader and loved when he’d guest star.  Grant did come by later in the day to eat two remaining donuts that I had in the refrigerator and we had a nice chat about all of it.  I suggested that in celebration of her life that we all go to Sizzler for a meal and reminiscing.  I’m hoping that happens.

Otherwise, yesterday was wet.  I think we can safely say that yesterday was wet.  I got seven hours of sleep, answered e-mails, and began entering my fixes to the book.  I ate the Taco Bell, which was very good, and at some point I ran some stuff by Muse Margaret, just to make sure she was okay with it, and at some point I went to Gelson’s and got some salad for a snack and some ice cream so I could have a sweet. Otherwise, it was just entering fixes for most of the day and evening. I got all mine entered, and I then I got half of proofer 1’s fixes in but saved some to run by Muse Margaret today – nothing major. I needed a break, so I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on the Flix of Net entitled Agatha and the Truth of Murder, a fanciful fiction about Agatha Christie’s missing eleven days.  It was rather silly and not very well written, but I liked all the actors, especially Ruth Bradley as Agatha.  I read up on the production, which was not endorsed by the Christie estate, and funnily no one anywhere, not articles nor reviews, had the good taste to mention that this idea had already been done, albeit with an entirely different and much more plausible idea about what might have been in those missing eleven days – Kathleen Tynan’s novel, Agatha, turned into a very good movie starring Vanessa Redgrave and Dustin Hoffman.  If you’ve never seen that one, you should seek it out.

Then I listened to some music, had a telephonic call, and am currently thinking about doing some more fixes entering for another hour or so.

Today, I have no plans at all, so I can definitely finish entering the fixes of proofer one and I’m hoping to have the other two sets from proofers two and three shortly.  I’ll eat something at some point, something light, I’m sure I’ll run stuff by Muse Margaret, and I might start thinking about narrowing down the song selection for the March Kritzerland.  At some point, I’m sure I’ll watch something.

Tomorrow, I’ll relax until it’s time for the Robby Awards sound check and show. I’ll go over my opening remarks so that I can do them by heart.  I’m looking forward to the evening’s fun.  The rest of the week is meetings and meals, entering the rest of the fixes so that Grant can hopefully start on the book by the end of the week, and getting singers their music.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finish entering fixes, eat, run stuff by Muse Margaret, narrow down song selection, and relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them.  So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, prepared for another day when the rains came and then some.
