173% – TO INFINITY AND BEYOND

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we have begun the third week of our Indiegogo campaign and, as I’ve learned from past campaigns, third weeks are the slowest and usually frustrating, and then things pick up again with the final few days of the campaign.  But even so, we began the day at 165% as per last night’s notes, and we’re currently at 173%, although that may not be updated correctly, not sure, so that’s an eight percent rise, which is damn good if you ask me and even if you don’t ask me.  A few of the new perks went, so that was nice.  If you haven’t been to the campaign recently, it’s worth checking out, although I know most dear readers have been visiting pretty regularly. Here’s the handy-dandy link:

Yesterday was a wacky little day. I got seven hours of sleep and was up at ten-thirty.  I got all the Indiegogo stuff updated everywhere, did some work on the computer, then went and picked up some packages, after which I came home and made some Wacky Noodles. Those were quite yummilicious and I was quite full.  Oh, the Valley streets were completely dopey again – endless lines to turn left at almost every corner so that the lines spilled into the lanes that went straight ahead – it was madness.  At Riverside and Laurel Canyon, the cars were backed up a half-mile – it’s NEVER been like that.  Later, I was told there was police activity, but I have found no evidence of any near that location.  Perhaps Moron Day lasted until yesterday.

After I ate, I buckled down, Winsocki and began writing the show commentary.  I got about five songs in, which is pretty good.  Then I did the track listing for our upcoming five-CD set – obviously the actual full track listings will be in the booklet and not the tray card – not enough room there.  Once I finished that, I actually began writing my portion of the liner notes.  Four other people are writing notes, as well, as this set is as much a tribute to Nick Redman as it is the director and composer involved.  That all took up the afternoon and a lot of the evening, but at least I’m on my way with all of it, so that’s good.  There was no time to watch anything, obviously, so I just listened to a lot of music whilst doing my various writings and work.  I had a few telephonic conversations and probably ate a little too much ice cream but sometimes one simply must eat a little too much ice cream – it’s just the way it goes.

Then I finally stopped and relaxed and listened to more music.

Today, I’ll hopefully arise after at least eight hours of sleep.  Then I have to finish reading something and making notes – that will take a couple of hours, I’m sure.  Then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, and I’ll continue writing the commentary, which I’d like to get out of the way, and also continue writing my portion of the liner notes.  Then, if all goes according to Hoyle, I’ll probably eat a nice dinner, then see a little show I don’t especially want to see.  Then I’ll come home and continue writing.

Tomorrow will be more of the same, plus keeping tabs on the Indiegogo campaign.  I want to get this packaging for the five-CD set well along – I’m hoping we can actually announce it in two or three weeks.  I won’t announce until it’s actually at the printers after all approvals have come in.  The rest of the week is meetings and meals, and lots of organizing, especially the Indiegogo perks, which I want to have in a very organized way so we can just print out addresses and ship.  The book room is currently filled with the perks, but everything is where I can find it. I’m not sure at all what the weekend holds, but the following week will be all Indiegogo all the time until the campaign ends.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, finish reading something and making notes, hopefully pick up some packages, write more commentary and liner notes, then perhaps have a nice supper and see a show I’d rather not see.  Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite films of Tyrone Power and Miss Linda Darnell?  Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be up to 173% going into week three.
