THE WAREHOUSE VISIT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, let’s just get the good news right up front: 160%!  I’m down with that, let me tell you, I’m jiggy with that, let me tell you.  And let me also say that I’ve put up several fun new perks – one of which, of course, was already cleverly grabbed by one of our very own dear readers.  But especially check out the Harvey Schmidt art, priced too low – grab while you can. Here’s the handy-dandy link.  I have a dream number in my head and I’m praying we might dare to dream that we can reach it.

Yesterday was a fine old day, at least I think it was. I got about seven hours of sleep.  The alarm didn’t go off, but thankfully I got up not too long after it should have gone off. I had to get ready quickly, and then I moseyed on out to the warehouse where all the Kritzerland stuff is kept, as well as the stuff that was in storage.  I ended up spending two-and-a-half hours there, looking through boxes.  I found some really fun stuff for perks – some of which, as I mentioned, are already up, but more to come, oh, yes, more to come.  I also found scads of material I need for next year’s book, so that was good. I also perused the Kritzerland stock and was rather astonished to see that we have stuff that the former helper swore we were out of and so that hasn’t been for sale for months.  Very irritating, but at least I know we have those titles now.

Once I was finished there, it was almost 2:45.  This warehouse is in Simi Valley, a nice thirty-minute drive.  I headed back to my turf, then went to the mail place and picked up some packages. I was really starving, so I went right to Islands and had my Big Wave and fries, really good.  Then I finally came home, got the new perks photographed and up, had some telephonic conversations, answered e-mails, got singers songs (we’re only three from being finished, so that’s good), had a nice e-mail volley with Lynn Ahrens about a song we’ll be doing, listened to lots of music, and wrote an entire set of liner notes.

Then I got a master for an upcoming release, a classical title, since we haven’t done one in quite a while, so I listened to that (all but one track – that final track just came through) and was very pleased with the sound, I must say, in terms of the mono stuff – it opens with a great stereo piece but the rest is mono.  Very happy to be doing this one and I’ve already got a volume two almost ready to go. Then I relaxed and listened to more music.

Today, I have a noon o’clock lunch with a musical director pal I haven’t seen in quite some time.  After that, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, then I have to meet a fellow who’s buying some CDs, and then we have a work session for a couple of hours, and then I’ll get something to eat, since I’ll probably have something very light for the lunch meeting.  Then I can relax.

Tomorrow, I can sleep in, I’ll do a show order once I’ve figured out the last three songs, then I’ll write the commentary.  Otherwise, I’ll relax and watch stuff.  Sunday will be more of the same and then we begin week three of the Indiegogo campaign and we’ll do another push to begin the week and see how far we can go.  Then the rest of the week is very busy.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora or the Swim, for today is the birthday of our very own beloved dear reader vixmom.  So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own beloved dear reader vixmom.  On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR VERY OWN BELOVED DEAR READER VIXMOM!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, have a lunch, hopefully pick up some packages, meet a fellow, have a work session, eat a proper meal somewhere fun, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, the Leopold Stokowski Phase 4 recordings.  Blu-ray, some Quatermass fun.  Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to have had a nice warehouse visit.
