THE OUT OF WHACK DIGESTIVE SYSTEM THAT IS BUGGING ME TO DISTRACTION

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish, wondering why my digestive system is so very screwed up like so much fish.  I suppose all this, including the endless cough, will sort itself out at some point, but in the meantime, it is all bugging me to distraction like so much fish.  My eyes are tired and bleary and hardly cheery, dearie, due to staring at the computer screen almost the entire day and evening, with occasional breaks to feel nauseous and cough.

I did get ten hours of sleep, so that was nice.  I went to bed quite late because I began proofing the designed book, not careful proofing, mind you, just finding the big stuff – well, not BIG big stuff, minor big stuff but stuff I needed to note.  I continued doing that as soon as I got up and ultimately made seven full pages of those kinds of easy fixes, all stuff to do with moving lines to another page, layout stuff that we normally don’t have to deal with, but with lyrics we do have to deal with it.  Missing punctuation, bad breaks, widows and orphans and the like.  So, I got that all done, and now I proof each lyric, because the other proofers don’t know the lyrics and wouldn’t catch errors.  The prose has all been proofed by multiple folks, so I don’t really have to re-proof that stuff.

In between all those hours, I made some spaghetti with red sauce and sautéed onion and ate it all up.  And once I was done with the proofing part one, I wrote some of the commentary, just to get that started, not much, but at least it’s en route now.  I wrote the blurb for our new release, which will include two other out-of-print titles that we found stock on when we moved to the warehouse.  These two show titles go for huge bucks now, so it will be nice to give the folks who missed out, and they were many, a chance to pick these up at our normal prices. Of course, it’s limited stock on both.  At some point, I went and got a peanut butter chocolate donut from K’s Donuts, but I think my tolerance for that kind of sweet is not good right now, so I really have to not do that again for a while, much as I do love it.  Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I took a break and watched the first hour of a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled How to Steal a Million.  I think this is maybe the farthest I’ve gotten with it – or maybe I did finally see the whole thing at some point, but this film is a perfect example of a souffle that refuses to rise.  It starts out okay, sorta, kinda, but ultimately despite the huge star power of Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole, and a great director in William Wyler, the whole thing is just leaden and charmless.  Hepburn looks great, though, and the score by John Williams is very Mancini-esque.  It tries very hard to be a frothy comedy and I sure wish it succeeded, but, for me it does not.  Even the transfer is a bit flat.

After that, it was just nausea and listening to music, not necessarily in that order.

Today, I’ll sleep in, write and finish the commentary, proof lyrics a final time and make any necessary notes for fixes, prepare our new release announcement and eBlast, and then I’m supping with Muse Margaret and her ever-lovin’ Richard and that I am looking forward to – a proper meal.  After that, we’ll get the new release live, and then I can relax.

Tomorrow, I’ll continue proofing lyrics until I’m done, then we have our first Kritzerland rehearsal, which I’m very much looking forward to.  The rest of the week is finalizing the book, adding the many images, our second Kritzerland rehearsal, meetings and meals, resuming performances of the play, a stumble-through, and then sound check and show.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora and the Swim, for today is the birthday of dear reader Druxy.  So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to dear reader Druxy.  On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO DEAR READER DRUXY!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, sleep in, write and finish commentary, proof lyrics, prepare our new release announcement, sup with the Muse and her hubby, and then relax.  Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them.  So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall hopefully have no nausea and hope Ye Olde Digestive system gets back to normal or at least next to normal.
