147% AND FINALLY PROJECT TWO AKA REVENGE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, can we just say 147%!!! We can and we did because it’s true. We have crossed the $11,000 line and I’m thinking if things go well over the next few days and especially on the final day, we might just make it past $12,500 and perhaps even higher. I’m salivating over the things we can add, oh, yes, I am salivating. The first edition plays have proven to be a big hit and all but one batch of three have gone. I’ll let you in on a little secret: When I first approached my guy about doing the Blu-ray the first thing I told him was that I didn’t know if I had another Indiegogo campaign in me. When I got the first total, I said the same thing, that I thought I could never raise that kind of dough – he got the price down a couple of hundred bucks, and I said I’d think about it. Then, I girded the old loins, which are quite old these days, and decided to do it. This is the tenth campaign I’ve done and I’m happy to say that they’ve all been very successful and all but one has reached or exceeded their goals, and the one that didn’t came very close and we were trying to raise 85K on that one. I learned fast about these, about how to do them and make them successful. I learned you get zero help from Indiegogo itself, as their algorithms are worse than Facebook’s, if such a thing is possible. But, for me, the recipe for success was ultimately simple and of course I shan’t be sharing it here. But it’s a full-time job, these campaigns, and if you don’t have the moxie for it, you fail, and I see those fails all the time. I’ve had people come to me and ask me how I do it and I’ve tried to help a couple of them, but in the end, they didn’t have the moxie or the time to turn their campaigns into a success. I’m so thrilled at how this one has gone. We were in pretty good shape coming out of the gate, had a great first week, and had reached our goal by the end of the second week. And I’m endlessly grateful to all of you and everyone who’s come in to grab a perk or three. I think it’s going to be a really wonderful, quality Blu-ray that will be filled with fun stuff and the more we raise the more I stick on there. Each new thing adds to the tally, of course, but that’s why we keep pushing to go up. And onward and upward we go, to infinity and beyond. Here’s the handy-dandy link.

Yesterday was certainly a day, I think we can all agree on THAT. I got nine hours of sleep, which I needed, got up, answered e-mails, saw we’d gone up, Indiegogo-wise, which made me happy, then I did some stuff on the computer, after which I drove by the nearby branch of my bank, only to see about twenty idiots standing in line to get in. I then went to the mail place and picked up one tiny package, which I’ll tell you about shortly, and then drove to my actual branch of my actual bank, where there were not twenty people in line waiting to get in. I walked right in and there was, in fact, one person ahead of me. I made my deposit and came directly home.

I ordered from the California Chicken Café, my usual chicken breast and wing and chicken pasta salad. It came about forty minutes later and was excellent AND calorie friendly. As you may or may not remember, one of my favorite candy bars is an overseas thing called Cherry Ripe. I was ordering online many years ago until they stopped allowing it to be shipped to the U.S. So, I haven’t had one in quite some time, but you can now order them via Amazon and so I did and it came in one day and I stuck ‘em in the freezer, then had one an hour later and it was soooooo good. I did a little cheerleading, posted again about project two aka Revenge and included the links for the first time, then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish.

Last night, I watched two Spanish movies from Spain, both directed by the same person. I remembered really liking them when I watched them on the Tube of You but who likes to see movies like that, so I bought them on Blu and Ray but never watched them, as I’d just seen them. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed both of them all over again and remembered almost nothing about either, especially the various twists along the way. The first I watched was Contratiempo, which is a wonderful little thriller and I have to say that when it goes where it goes, I never saw it coming the first time or this time, and there’s no cheats or anything. And it moves like a bat out of hell, really great pacing. The second one was called The Body, and the downside is it has a vomit scene but the rest plays pretty well and the ending is very clever and ties things up nicely. I checked back in the notes and I also saw another film of this director on YouTube, so I may give that one another look-see or see if it’s out on DVD or Blu-ray. And I’ll check to see if he’s made any films subsequent to these.

I did a quick Gelson’s run and got their small Caesar – half the size of their large – which I thought would make a nice evening repast that wasn’t too caloric, and it hit the spot really well. I listened to no music at all the entire day and evening.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, and then it’s all getting ready for project two aka Revenge, which we’re all excited about doing. So, it’s at 5:00 PDT/8:00 EDT and here are the direct links to both it and the Q&A that follows immediately. And project two aka Revenge will hopefully run under an hour.

Q&A link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81896196501?pwd=RDNjSFJFM1dURzJyOEtZYUpWYTB5Zz09

I’m hoping you’ll all join us for this one and I really look forward to seeing you at the Q&A for some FUN! The entire cast will be there and so will I, just in case you were wondering.

I’m not sure that I’ll eat beforehand, and if I don’t, if it goes well, I’ll have a nice celebratory meal here.

Tomorrow is a ME day and night as well as night and day. I shall do ME things, I’ll relax, I’ll take it easy, I’ll watch and listen to stuff and that is IT. Then next week we bring the Indiegogo puppy home, and that will be a lot of the first part of the week. I will decide on whether we’ll be doing a May Kritzerland, I’ll finish all liner notes and get them where they need to go, I think the two Cole Porter CDs will ship by Tuesday, and I’ll finalize the extras that we can put on the Blu-ray, which will depend on where we end up with the final tally. And I’ll try to announce two new CD releases.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, relax, and then we do project two aka Revenge, followed by a Q&A, followed by food followed by watching, listening, and relaxing. Today’s topic of discussion: Other than The Sixth Sense, whose twist was known to me five minutes into the film, what twists or surprises in films have completely caught you off guard and yet, when you’ve gone back, realized that everything was played fair and square? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, thrilled to be at 147% and thrilled to finally do project two aka Revenge.
