164% AND EASING ON DOWN THE KETO ROAD

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, as we enter what I’m told is NOW the final day of our Indiegogo campaign, we are at 164% and still a little shy of $12,500, the next goal where I can add more extras, which are waiting in the wings and ready to go should we reach that or go above it – the more the merrier, say I. First of all, thanks to all you dear readers for putting up with these endless updates – it’s what you have to do to make a successful campaign and making a successful campaign it time-consuming and really hard and you have to keep it fun, which I hope it has been. Now, for reasons I will never understand, the campaign actually ends at three in the morning. We began of Wednesday March 10 at 11:00 in the morning. The campaign is supposed to last exactly four weeks. And yet here we are on the ninth but not ending at eleven in the morning but three in the morning. The opposite happened a year-and-a-half ago with the Creature campaign. That one took me by surprise and ended earlier than I was led to believe. I just don’t get it. Anyway, for me the campaign will be over when I post the notes tonight, so we have until then to try and go higher and higher. It’s been fascinating seeing what the most popular perks have been (the musical first editions and the musical scores), the really rare stuff that’s just sat there like so much fish – pricier than other stuff but incredible bargains that are wayyyyyy under their market value. I’m still hoping someone grabs one. Last campaign, we had a huge number of thank yous in the booklet and that did NOT include a DVD with it – this time we have two. I may not bother with a booklet with the Blu-ray and just do the credits on the back of the insert, which I’ve seen done on Blu-ray packages. But I haven’t been given the cost of the booklet yet, so we’ll see. Maybe we’ll get some more thank yous – I always think that’s a fun perk because it’s forever and includes both Blu-ray AND CD booklets. But the bottom line is we’ve done great and it’s going to be a wonderful Blu-ray any way you slice it. I’m hoping we can put a couple more things on it so here we go, the final hours of the campaign and let’s bring this puppy home in the best way we can. Wheeeee.

I did think about putting up some last-minute perks – I have three more vocal scores that I’m willing to let go of – The King and I, The Most Happy Fella, and Wildcat – the latter is super rare. If anyone here has interest let me know. I also have a few more first edition musicals – every one of those has gone and all but one to the same person. I suppose I could put another trio together and might include Promises, Promises, which is not easy to find. We shall see.

Otherwise, I am sitting here like so much fish, going through the Andre Previn box for the second time – it’s just got great stuff in it. Right now, some wonderful Vaughan Williams. And prior to that, I watched a motion picture – well, a putrid motion picture – entitled U-Turn, starring a host of my least favorite actors of all time: Sean Penn, Joaquin Phoenix, Billy Bob Thornton, Powers Boothe – they’re all perfect for this vile film, actually. It’s directed by Mr. Oliver Stone, who never for a second lets some pretentious visual trickery go by. I think some of it is meant to be amusing, but it’s not. It’s actually hard to know what it’s meant to be – there’s not a single likeable character in it, except maybe Liv Tyler, who is an extra at a bus station in this. Julie Hagerty is in it for a couple of minutes and she’s terrible, too. Of course, the MOST terrible is Mr. Phoenix who, if I never see him in a movie again, will be too soon. I endured all two hours of it and can only take some solace in that it was a huge flop. Of course, some film know-it-alls proclaim it a masterpiece because that’s what they do.

Yesterday was an okay day. I got seven hours of sleep, saw we’d gone up to 164%, so that was nice, did some cheerleading but of course can’t do too much when the percentage point isn’t going up. I answered e-mails, decided for sure we’re doing a Q&A after Saturday’s performance – both links will be in Saturday’s notes – and then I made myself what in essence was a big wedge salad, only chopped. Lettuce, red onion, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, and tomato, with Bob’s bleu cheese dressing on it. It was actually great. Then Facebook went down for a while, then it came up, then it went down, otherwise I kept my eye on the campaign and also posted about the new performance of project two aka Revenge. Here’s a new flyer with some review quotes.

After the movie, I made another wedge salad, smaller this time, and it, too, was great and I think the two salads probably came to around 1000 calories, maybe a bit more, but not much. Then I took a drive to the mail place and to my surprise there was a slip for a package in the box, so I’ll have to go over there today and retrieve that. Once back home, I began listening to music and that was that.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll write liner notes, I think I’m having California Chicken Café for food – two breast, two wings and no chicken pasta salad, unfortunately – I’ll pick up whatever that package is, but mostly I will be on the Facebook cheerleading us hopefully to a very, very happy conclusion. I’m sure I’ll also watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes so I’ll go have a light breakfast somewhere – of course, no pasta papa, but an omelet of some sort or bacon and eggs is fine, just no potatoes or fruit or anything, but I enjoy omelets so probably that. Then I’ll do stuff until it’s time for our second and final performance of project two aka Revenge and I truly hope that all the dear readers who missed it will be tuning in and perhaps come to the Q&A directly after. The performance is under an hour. After the Q&A, I’ll eat a little Keto-friendly something or other. Then next week is planning the May Kritzerland and finishing up all the liner notes, figuring out the next two Kritzerland releases, and I’ll of course do whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, write, eat, pick up a package, and cheerlead all the livelong day and evening and, of course, I’ll watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, more Previn conducting many things. Blu-ray, perhaps The Legend of Hell House. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to be at 164% and hoping we go higher and higher as I continue on the Keto road.
