182%!!! THE SUCCESSFUL INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN ENDS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, we’ve finished the Indiegogo campaign and ended up having quite the final day and evening. It started slowly, but then accelerated quickly. Originally, according to Indiegogo, we were going to end at three-thirty in the morning, but I knew that was a load of baloney and so it was – we, in fact, ended right at midnight. Other than the big Kritzerland campaign years ago this was the biggest final day of any of our campaigns. I did the cheerleading thing frequently throughout the day and evening, we had a lull for a bit and then some late-night action, which I love. I’m actually writing these here notes early because she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon, so I’ll just leave things blank until midnight, but the final tally – DRUM ROLL, PLEASE – 182%!!!

Isn’t that something? While we didn’t actually surpass the Creature campaign percentage-wise, we did surpass it monetarily, which is amazingly amazing. Anyway, I’m glad it’s done, I’m thrilled it was successfully successful and I’m grateful to all you dear readers who took part and everyone else who took part. The goal, for me, in any campaign, is to keep it fun and I think we did that, as hard as that is sometimes. It’s four weeks of non-stop tub-thumping, cajoling, putting up new perks, all of it, really a full-time job. But the bottom line is we’re going to have a really special Blu-ray, jam-packed with fun stuff. As soon as I know what we’re going to actually clear, then I’ll know how much more we can do, but I’m thinking we might just be able to do all twelve episodes of Outside the Box commentaries, at least I’m hoping we can. So, that would mean the full commentary on Tonight’s the Night and I think we’ll all be able to be there for it, as Eric Petersen is back in town – he’s in the midst of moving, but it will only take an hour and six minutes to do. Then the Outside the Box series, all twelve episodes, hopefully with those commentaries, the uncut, never-before-seen Dirty Harry Strikes Back trailer, the Kimmel Movie Marathon trailer, and I think that’s going to eat up all the dough. And, of course, there’ll be the CD and sheet music, and those will all be for sale at Kritzerland, too. And for anyone who didn’t order the book and who’d like to, that’s going up at Kritzerland shortly.

Otherwise, I’m listening to music (now playing, the Chopin second piano concerto), at the time I’m writing these here notes there’s still two hours to go for late-night action, and I’m hoping we get some.

I also watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled The Legend of Hell House, a motion picture about the legend of Hell House, from the novel Hell House (a much better title) by Richard Matheson. I’ve seen the opening five minutes of this film about ten times but have never actually watched it. Well, it’s not a great movie, but it’s enjoyable – atmospheric, at times scary, with excellent performances from Clive Revill, Pamela Franklin, and Roddy McDowell. What would have helped the film immeasurably would be a score by someone like Jerry Goldsmith or Bernard Herrmann. What we get, is some electronic meanderings that don’t help anything at all. This was a German import, and the transfer seemed a little brown to me. There was a Shout Factory release seven years ago, but I’d guess it used this very same transfer.

Yesterday was mostly a nice day. I got eight hours of sleep, answered e-mails, was a cheerleader and a vociferous one at that, picked up a package, then had food from the California Chicken Café. I ordered 1/2 chicken, all white, which is supposed to be two breasts and two wings, which is a nice low-calorie Keto-friendly meal. I used no barbecue sauce, didn’t get the pita that comes with it and didn’t get my usual chicken pasta salad. When it arrived, I was greeted by the two breasts but FIVE wings. Couldn’t believe it. And I ate everything and I’m still pretty full from it, but there isn’t much to the wings and so it was still very calorie friendly. I cannot imagine I even got to 1000 calories. Then it was more cheerleading, watching the movie, and then I thought I should have some greens, so I made a small salad with a teeny bit of mozzarella cheese on it, and Newman’s Oil and Vinegar dressing. It was good but I was already still full so now I feel a little logy. I also feel like I’m not losing anything, but Keto takes a while to kick in and then you go pretty quickly at the start. The rest you know and you know the rest.

Today, I’ll be up by eight-thirty and out of the house by nine. I’ll go have an omelet somewhere – I’ve already decided on mushrooms, onions, cheddar cheese, and bacon for the filling. And tomatoes on the side. No bread, no potatoes, no fruit. After that, I’ll probably stop by the mail place, and I may just take a ride to Hollywood to check out the new Amoeba location near the Pantages. I can’t imagine there won’t be a long line to get in, but I want to scope out the parking and stuff. Then I’ll come home, write liner notes, and then we do our final performance of Revenge at 5:00 PDT/8:00 EDT, which will be followed by the Q&A. I do hope all the dear readers that weren’t with us last week will be this week and I hope you’ll stop by the Q&A. Here are the direct links to each.

After that, I’ll have something light and Keto friendly for food, then I really need to just watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow, I’ll finish up liner notes and start the task of organizing the Indiegogo perks list, which will take three or four days with almost 170 contributors. Fortunately, the biggest perk getter, the nice fellow who took all but one of the first edition musicals books and a lot of the scores lives in Burbank, so that will save that shipping, which is great. We probably won’t ship stuff until they return to us the money they withhold for cancellations – there won’t be any. Last time that took about two weeks, but they say to not ship anything until that’s done. But I’ll have everything ready to go and I may, in fact, ship to you dear readers right away, and maybe just get everyone everything just to get it done. The rest of the week is planning the May Kritzerland (IF the cast is all available), getting new releases ready, and doing whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eight-thirty, have a light breakfast, hopefully pick up some packages, maybe take a ride to scope out the new Amoeba store, write, do our final performance of Revenge, do the Q&A, and then I’ll watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite movies with Pamela Franklin (I’ve always loved her) and Roddy McDowell? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy that the Indiegogo campaign came to a truly successful conclusion so we can do so many lovely extras and happy it’s over so I can breathe again.
