WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, where did the time go? The time went without a word of warning – first it was here, then it was gone, like the wind. That time is an elusive beast, isn’t it? Sometimes time is slow as molasses and sometimes it’s as quick as corn. Wait, is corn quick? In any case, last I knew it was around six o’clock and now it’s eleven o’clock and I honestly don’t know what the HELL I’ve been doing for five hours. Well, I had some long telephonic calls, I did a quick Gelson’s run, I began gathering together stuff for an upcoming release, I did the blurb for the Kritzerland anniversary show, but none of that took five hours. Well, someone sprinkled the faerie dust on time, and it flew away. Otherwise, I am sitting here like so much fish, listening to a fun opera by Johann Strauss entitled Der Carneval in Rom – at first I thought it was about a CD-Rom, but it’s not. It’s very tuneful and enjoyable, that much I can say. This is on the CPO label. It’s pretty short – only ninety-something minutes, which is more than I can say for what I began listening to last night after I posted the notes – Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, which is four CDs and therefore close to four hours long. Do opera companies do these looooong Wagner things sans cuts? I can’t imagine sitting for four hours to watch an opera. I enjoyed the thirty minutes I heard but I’m saving the rest for the weekend, when I’ll have three-and-a-half hours to listen to it. I never got around to watching anything.

But before we go back to yesterday, I do have some photographs from Tuesday night’s performance, taken by Karl Sonnenberg. First is Harley Walker, here performing It’s a Perfect Relationship.

I think there are a couple of folks missing.

Yesterday was restful and relaxing, which is what I need. I’d planned to choose songs, but I really needed a complete day off and I took it. Sleep was sporadic, but I think I ultimately got seven hours. Once up, I answered e-mails, did a few things on the computer, and then went to the mail place – haven’t been in five days and rather shockingly the only things that were there were two returned Kritzerland packages. I then walked next door to Subway and got a spicy Eyetalian sandwich, came home, and ate the damn thing all up. It was very good and hit the spot. And then the damn day was damn done. I had two long telephonic calls, wrote the blurb, did the Gelson’s run, getting a small salad and four little egg roll things for a snack, came home and ate the salad and four little egg roll things. And then, surprisingly, it was time to write these here notes, which, in case you haven’t been paying attention, is what I’m currently doing.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I have to visit storage to drop off some Tonight’s the Night song folios – we went through the first batch pretty quickly – search for a couple of things, then I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll eat something light, and then I’ll spend the rest of the day choosing songs and getting music to people. And then at some point I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is more of the same and I think there may be an early dinner happening, so that will be fun. The weekend is unknown to me at this time, but I’m sure I’ll be relaxing and watching stuff and catching up on stuff.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let’s all dance the Hora and the Turkey Trot, for today is the birthday of our very own Jrand. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our very own Jrand. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY TO OUR VERY OWN JRAND!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, visit storage, search for a few things, hopefully pick up some packages, eat, choose songs and get music to people, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: Recurring dreams – what recurring dreams have you had the most? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, where I shall ponder the age old question of where does the time go?
