THE LATE, LATE NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, these here notes are late. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, these here notes are late and they are late because I ate and because I ate these here notes are late, which is a trait when you ate late and are currently as big as a crate. And whilst writing these here late, late notes and being as big as a crate, I’m listening to the wonderful music of Vince Mendoza, the heir apparent to Claus Ogerman. I have almost all Mendoza’s and their all excellent, plus there are the albums he’s arranged for others – soloists, singers, etc. I haven’t heard these in a long time, so it’s nice to reacquaint myself with them. The late snack was really fascinating. I’d only eaten a chicken sandwich and a few fries earlier, from the Kluckin’ Chicken jernt not too far from here. So, because all I wanted to do after attending the “workshop production” I saw, was to get the HELL home so I could continue writing, as I’d only done about seven or eight pages before having to leave. So, I went on Door Dash and saw there was a deal on a jernt called Del Taco. I’ve never had Del Taco, but I know some who really like it. That seemed quick and easy, so I ordered two of their crispy tacos (similar in appearance to Taco Bell’s crispy tacos, i.e. small. I also ordered a taco salad, because that looked good, and I thought it would be a fine idea to have some lettuce. It arrived VERY quickly. And much to my surprise, the tacos were excellent – very different flavor to Taco Bell and I may have even preferred the Del Taco. And the taco salad was just right – small scoop of freshly-made guacamole, small scoop of sour cream, some shredded cheese and tomatoes, and lettuce. It was also excellent. And had I not had the sandwich earlier it would have been a very calorie friendly day. So, I may just have only that for food today. It’s a good place to know about and now I just have to figure out exactly where it is – if it’s not too far I can just go pick it up myself. And now, the late, late, and getting later by the minute notes.

Yesterday was not such a bad day. I was up at eleven, I answered e-mails, then when I was coherent dove right into futzing and finessing the previous day’s writing. This time it was easier and I only spent about forty-five minutes doing that. I added two substantial things, subtracted some small stuff, and otherwise just smoothed stuff out. Then the sandwich arrived, so I ate that and then wrote two new pages. I didn’t end up going to the bank so that has to be done today and I’ll just hope since the people who do all their banking on the first and second of every month will be done and it won’t be too long a wait. It’s just so annoying when these branches close down and everyone has to run and make other branches so damn crowded. I also don’t understand why people don’t do online banking or use the ATMs. I would do that, but I have cash and I’ve learned that putting cash in the ATM is just too dangerous. If something gets screwed up the bank won’t do anything because it’s cash. You have to call and go through a lot of crap just to get your money back or have it credited. So, I have no choice, but others certainly do. I also think people are in full on panic and fear mode again and that only fuels the lines and people’s craziness.

So, I took a little break, shaved, and then wrote about six more pages. Then I took another break and watched an hour of a new film based on An Inspector Calls – such a good story and this version plays pretty well. The first time I ever saw An Inspector Calls was the amazing Stephen Daldry production on Broadway, with an incredible cast. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen, and I loved it. But the play also works perfectly with all that directorial frou frou. About four years ago, I also saw the first film version with Alistair Sim – that was pretty good. This new one stars David Thewlis. I look forward to finishing it, but not as much as I look forward to finishing these here late, late notes.

After that, I took a shower, wrote another page, then moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up two packages, and then I moseyed on over to the Group Rep to see a “workshop production”. It’s a work in progress so I shan’t say anything. The rest you know.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll futz and finesse and then write new pages, I’ll eat, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll hopefully do some banking, and then I’ll just write more new pages, and, at some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow and the rest of the week is more of the same – mainly writing, maybe a meal out, and doing whatever else needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven, do whatever needs doing, futz and finesse, write new pages, eat, hopefully pick up some packages, hopefully do some banking, write more new pages, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to finally get to post these here late, late notes.
